I don't understand why people go for obesity treatements which are not proven scientifically.Eventhough they are aware of side effects they never mind in going for those treatements.People are spending lots of money for these treatments. The effect of these treatments is temporary. After some period thay may gain their weight or may be effected with health problems. I beleive the best way to weight reduction would be excersices, jogging, cycling, swimming, walking and good eating habits. What do u say about that?

I think people just become desparate and are willing to try anything. There could be many reasons why people wouldn't be able to exercise. The could be physically disabled, this is the reason my mother can't exercise, she's in too much pain because she needs her hip replaced. Other times people can't exercise much because they get exercise induced asthma. I get this problem and I had to quit playing field hockey because of it, and I really can't do much aerobic exercises. Other people just have genetic problems or other disorders that will cause them to gain weight no matter how much they diet or exersise. People with hypothyroidism have a really hard time loosing weight even if they get this disease treated. Other times hormones can contribute to weight gain. There is a hormone called cortosol(not sure of the spelling) that can cause people to gain weight. So there are many reasons why people gain weight besides not exercising or eating right. I have a strange problem where the healthier I eat, the more weight I tend to gain. Yet when I eat junk food I tend to loose weight. I'd like someone to explain that one to me.

Today's people are so much obessed about their look, their physical apperance. They just want to look presentable want to look smart at any cost. And surely obesity is a hurdle in their smartness. But they dont'have time to reduce weight in proper way just as cycling, exercise, jogging. They just want to do it quickly at any cost.So they joined these obesity treatment program .Either they don't aware their side effect or they just want to loose weight at any cost that theiy just don't think about the long term side effect.Yor are true the best way of weight reduction is cycling, jogging, walking etc but where is the time buddy.

ya you are right, people take medicines which have their side effects, walking, swimming and jogging are good exercises, the best way to reduce your weight is despite of eating too much in a single go we have to eat little in many intervals.

Some people are just desperate for relief I guess. While there are many reasons as to why they're obese, a lot of people assume it's because they overeat and don't eat healthy food. I'm certainly not obese but since I quit smoking I gained some weight. My partner says I'm not even fat, I just need to tone - ie, exercise more. One person who's blog I used to read said that he'd had his stomach stapled. I was under the impression that by having that done you could only eat tiny amounts of food at any one time. Yet this guy said he still ate at McDonalds three times a week, and to me, that says it all for him. He got big and obese from eating all the wrong foods, had a drastic measure done to combat it, yet he's eating fast food three times a week. Even if his stomach were able to hold all that food at one time, he's doing so much damage to his heart and his arteries. I'm convinced he'll die young.

I think this is because either these people have tried everything but it did not work for them or its because they just want to have a "no pain- with gain" approach to losing weight. Since these people know they can afford to try these stuffs- they try it. They use their money to lose weight without shedding some sweat. Why would they pay for something that they have to work for if they can pay for something to do nothing and still lose weight?

The discussion is really timely. People are in back all these stuffs available in the market, of which producers are minting money. Let us start with good food habits, suppose u are earting 3 times per day reduce it to two and avoid sugar u will see dramatic results even without exercise. if found suitable inform me sk107

I would guess because people want the quick fix. That, and most of the time they believe the claims because they want the product/treatment to work so badly they forget about common sense.

Many modern people want a quick fix to something which took a long time to develop. Patience is not a strongpoint of modern society and society as a whole is suffering because of it.
