Panna Cota is kind of like Italy's version of creme caramel. It's not new - has been around for ages. I love it too, especially with raspberry sauce on the top.

Well, it is new to me and it was quite a discovery for my tastebuds. It is a vastly superior version of creme caramel, to my taste, anyways. So silky and creamy. Oh wow, got me going again. When can I get to the shops!

Thank you :-) I have had a look and copied it. It will be very nice to make this as healthy as possible so that it doesn't do too much damage. It is soooooo nice though!
Are you going to make some?

Tsk tsk rainbow, details, details! Of course I am not allowed it, that is why it tastes so good lol. I am very good, I only have one a fortnight, but I lurve it! If I made it myself I could probably make it more healthy, I hope lol.
If you like creamy, smooth, silky desserts, then you will probably like it.

I do know that you can make panna cotta yourself. I think it's a bit tricky, but the basic trick to it is simmering cream, sugar, and milk before you add unflavored gelatin to make it firm up and mold. I once saw Alton Brown make it on his tv show Good Eats. It was funny because it was a halloween show and he put it in a jello mold that looked like a brain.
I don't know the history of the dessert though except that is it Italian.
I'm glad you like it so much though. I don't think I've ever had it myself.
