.... invest your business here in the Philippines? OK. I have to make this one clear though that this post is not in any way opted to promote nor put down my own country, Philippines. Well, I just thought of getting my fellow myloters' views on the economic reliability of my country after all the economic issues it has been facing. And yeah, I assume the news about the hostage taking a few days back has reached every corner of the globe since there were quite a number of international media who came over to cover the incident. Now, after knowing or seeing what has been happening here in our country, would you still consider the Philippines to invest your business in? or would you rather go to some other countries which have proven great economic reliability? do share your thoughts.. :P

I am into investments, but can't claim to be an expert and more so,when it comes to Philippines.I have a little investment in real estate in switzerland through a trusted online site.Though it's paper cash at the moment, the properties prices have shown considerable appreciation.Yes,I read about the recent newspiece on the hostage crisis ,but tell me one country in the world that doesn't face challanges.I have heard about the corrupt govrnment and your prisident, but from what I have seen of filipinos on the site I really like them.I am not saying this because you are a filipino, but because I truly am liking their character, morals and strength to be self-critics.I had just one philippine friend before joining this site(who is on this site now) and now have several filipino friends. A country is only as good as it's people and from what I have seen your people are great. There will always be some nature of crisis in every society, but that shouldn't deter potential investors from using their foresight. If I knew what sector to invest in ,then I would invest in Philippines because of the ''people quality''.Just that I might wait for the storm to pass by ,before I do.

The way you lay your thoughts out is simply heart-warming especially to us, filipinos. Thanks for the trust and the level of regard you have on us. :)

what we usually see in the news are negative ones. in fact, i think these things play a major role in the downhill run of the economy. investors are getting scared and backoff. but, reality speaking, philippines is a very feasible country. the economy is booming and its the right time to put up small businesses and invest in big ones. i would start one even with all those things i see and heard on the news

i am from philippines and i think that some countries would rather go to some other countries which have been proven a great economic reliability because we also if we want to have our business we make sure that the country we will be investing has a good economic reliability.

We have a small business here in the Philippines and it's doing good. It may depend on the kind of business that you are in and the demands mostly when your business is related to sales. I watched a documentary about telemarketing companies owned by foreigners who chose to put up their business here so they can earn more because the salaries of Filipinos here is much cheaper than when they put up their companies on their own country. And also, I noticed that the value of peso has improved. I remember it going more than P50.00 to one dollar. I think it's still a case to case basis.

i would like to ask you the same question -- if you were a businessman, would you invest in the Philippines? you should remember that there is no country in the world that does not face domestic trouble. every nation has its own imperfections, sets of corrupt officials, absurd policies, terrorism plots, etc etc. Hostage-taking happens everywhere around the globe...and there are worser cases than what has happened a day ago. Filipinos are a people of great resilience. We are in fact a natural resource. Talented, streetsmart, educated, loyal, hardworking and dependable -- character traits most employers from anywhere would definitely love. There may be rotten tomatoes among the bunch, but why pick them? for a new business to survive, y

I'm not really that expert on the businesses that going around our country but I believe that despite all the government corruptions and the problems on the economic stability in our country, there's still other investments that's worth investing for. And I think one of those is investing on the places where you know that it has the potential to grow as a tourist spot. You know for a fact the Philippines is rich with natural resources and one of the main reasons why foreigners invest their money here is because of the these resources of nature. Say for example the small islets found in the Philippines. Among the 7,000+ islands in the archipelago, there are still a lot of unexplored islets that are very potential and needs to be developed. If you're a travel or one who loves to go island hopping, you would surely know. From these places, one can invest his or her money to put up a resort or develop an unexplored cave and make it a travel spot. Well, I'm not quite sure if this would really work but as far as I can see myself in the near future, I could be able to make my own beach resort soon. Because that's one of the good businesses I could think of putting up someday. :)

I am not that familiar with Philippines myself. Given a choice though, I won't. I am worried about "people power" and the government isn't the most stable or clean in the world. Since I am not familiar with the language or custom there, I rather give it a miss. :P

you can say that, friend... and I guess it's our chance to redefine the kind of public offices we used to have now since we are soon to exercise our freedom to vote. I hope then that the people won't be once again blinded by the pieces of paper bills to buy their votes. Here's cheers for a great change towards a more progressive Philippines!
