a few hours ago, my aunt was reading her emails, and one of her friends sent her a presentation of the worlds 10 largest shopping malls. and guess what...
Philippines is home to 3 of the largest in the world!
SM Mall of Asia, 3rd
SM Megamall, 5th
SM North Edsa, 9th

That's great! Who will think that Philippines is a no-no in progress. But these malls could be a proof that retailing business here is doing far good and could mean a better economy. We wont have these kinds of large malls if they weren't profitable business.

If the Philippines is doing great in retailing business, it only means that our economy is actually doing ok. Otherwise, how can the people get some money out to buy things from the malls if they don't have the money at all to splurge? They will all be going to the flea market and the public markets. I am very sure that this will be the scenario and those malls will have no place in our midst.

well, i don't know about the economic status coz i still believe we're in deep. but regarding the retail industry, its really great to have these malls around. c',)

that's great news for all pinoys again! haha!
SM is my favorite shopping mall to go to. when i am in Manila, i love to go to SM north edsa because it's near to where my dad resides.
i also visit megamall and mall of asia. but these malls are too far from Quezon City. but i say, these two are really nice malls to go to.

yeah! thats right! and you don't have to worry about the distance coz you can easily take the MRT to go to these malls. c',)

I never thought that the Philippines ever made it to the list for some years now. I was only thinking that we have made our mark in Asia and not the world. I was happy to hear of that but, these 3 are all sm ones. I wonder why other giants in the retail industry are not coming up with one of their own.

yeah.. and imagine, 2 of them are decades old already. i'm not sure why other retail giants like robinson's are not getting anywhere near. i'm guessing maybe because they don't want to put up as much investment as Henry Sy.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear that. Yeah, aside from the tourist spots, Philippines is also well known of the many shopping malls it has. One of the reasons also why a lot of tourists come here it's because of the less expensive prices on the shopping items that we have in the malls.
Well, undoubtedly, SM Mall of Asia should be included in the list. I've never been there yet but I would love to. I'm proud SM Corp. has made such a tremendous plan in putting up a mall as big as Mall of Asia.

it must be a pride of the philippines to have been the home of the world's 10 largest shopping malls , namely Mall of Asia, SM Megamall and SM North Edsa. The ranking was based on the amount "GROSS LEASABLE AREA", the number of square feet the property has for revenue-generating activities.

forbes.com keeps updating its site ...just visit www.forbes.com/business and go to their search and type in the phrase "world's largest malls." the news was published january 09, 2007 yet.

mall of asia is indeed a world-class shopping mall, and is located by the bay. But what attracts me most are the ice skating rink and the IMAX cinema :) Let's go to the malls!!!

Wow! That is wonderful. I am very surprised. Do you have the top 10 list? I would love to know the other 7 malls as well. Do you have any websites for the three in Philippines? Do you know how big they are? I think there are some in the USA as well. I will definitely have to go shopping in the Philippines when I go there in the future :)
