SM Mall of Asia and SM MegaMall are considered two of the largest in the world. Mall of Asia at 3rd and Megamall at 5th. but do you guys think that the Mall of Asia is really larger than MegaMall? i'm talking about ratio here. coz i really think SM MegaMall is far more larger than the Mall of Asia, considering the floor area and the number of floors. what do you guys think?

SM Mall of Asia commonly known to us pinoys as MOA is way far bigger than SM Megamall. It is built on 19.5 hectares land and has a gross floor area of 386,224 sq.m. It has also a 5,000 parking area capacity. =)

I still go for Megamall. Mall of Asia is kind of scary... it's so humongous that I heard stories about the second floor of the mall collapsing. But then i heard that it was immediately restored. And it was built on artificial land----that was a sea!

actually, it IS a fact that MoA has a probability of collapsing. thats exactly the reason why it only has 2 floors. that way, the land can support its weight. needless to worry coz engineers have already noted that. and yes, it IS on artificial land. its a reclamation area, specifically claimed for the construction of these commercial establishments. c",)

i think in terms of floors, megamall is bigger but in terms of land area, it is MOA which is bigger. you may just be confused because MOA just have 2 floors compared with megamall. MOA also has more visible empty spaces like the carpark and the seaside area.

well, MoA really has a huge land area. but i'm thinking about floor area, and the leasable area. and with all the responses here, it seems it all goes to MoA. c',)

I cant give my answer for now until one time that I know what are the floor areas of the two. Coz' for me it is the medium to judge who among them has the greater floor area. Only one thing I know that SM Mall Of Asia could win, it is structure of the mall and the state of the art facilities that greatly amused everyone who visit it.

based on the gross leasable area, or the number of square feet used for revenue-generating activities, the mall of asia has 4.2 million square feet compared to sm megamall which has only 3.6 million square feet. thus, in the report of forbes.com last january 09,2007 about the world's 10 largest shopping malls, the mall of asia ranked 3rd, sm megamall ranked 5th while sm north edsa ranked 9th, with 3 million square feet the largest of all is the south china mall in dongguan, china with gla (gross leasable area) of 7.1 million square feet.

now theres some numbers! you're right about their ranking. and its great since megamall is almost 2 decades old already, and sm north edsa is more than 2 decades old already, but they are still in the list. i think the total area of the largest mall, ranked 1st, is aroung 8 million square feet. am i correct on that number?

i had been to both malls whenever i visit my dad in quezon city. and i think that mall mall of asia is larger than megamall. i was amazed to see it the first time. i really took time to go trough all the boutiques and department store. but i can't go through all of them just for a single day... just like in megamall. i am not sure but i think mall of asia is still bigger than megamall.

wow! you really went through all the boutiques? hmmm.. i've heard some people say they can't really go round MoA in a single day.. now that makes me wonder how long it would take a person to go around and visit all the boutiques and shops in china's 1st largest mall, which is by the way, almost double the size of MoA.

Mall of Asia is far bigger than megamall. It is a dream of Henry Sy to build the biggest mall in Asia, but there are counterparts that surpasses this MOA I think. Considering the floor area and the land area, this mall is larger. Only that Megamall has more number of floors than MOA.

Mall of Asia is far more bigger than SM Megamall . . . for this time it's just in some areas of MOA looks empty 'coz not all stall are occupied or not open yet but the areas at the Bay side are so much to enjoy already and specially variety of restaurants to choose. in terms of the department store items both are the same since all are of SM Companies then for the recreational area the highlights both have ice skating rink. Here at SM " We've got it all for You ! "

Obviously, MoA is larger than Megamall. BUt all of us really love to visit Megamall since we're younger we visit there to go to TimeOut and my Father treat us in restaurants. But yeah, it's ok whether MoA or Megamall we're going to visit, since they both worth to visit although MoA is too far from our place since i came from Taytay.

When the first time i visit the Mall of Asia i also though that Mega Mall is bigger than Mall of Asia but when i started to explore the facilities of Mall of Asia i realized that Mall of Asia is really much bigger than Mega Mall. I also love hanging out on that both malls. I can see lot of stuff there that i cannot see or buy in other SM mall.
