Also a religious person sees the Bible as boring and full of usless facts. A true servant of God sees the Bible as the place for answers, promises from God, and very fulfilling. I know every time I'm upset or needing something to pick me up and I pick up the Bible and I feel so much better! It's amazing how we are directed to just the right passage to read and my spirit feels so much better.

What you say is absolutely true, but it shouldn't surprise us. The Bible itself (1 Corinthians 2:14)gives the answer. The person outside of Christ, that is the person without spiritual life, CANNOT understand the things of the Spirit of God, because they are FOOLISHNESS to him.
The person outside of Christ would see the Christian life as very restrictive, but we know that in Christ we have found perfect freedom.
Peter tells us that "exceedingly great and precious promises" are given to those who believe in Christ, and we are assured in many places that His Word is absolute truth and will never fail. Of course, we soon find the truth of this from experience. After 49 years of knowing the REALITY of the abiding presence of Christ in my life, I can say that I have NEVER known any of God's promises to fail.

You are absolutely right. I do not think that religious people read the Bible and alow God to Speak to them through His Holy Spirit. A lot of people only know about the Bible and parts of it but have never actualy read it properly to find the true message of love and salvation. People are sometimes too quick to judge God and the Bible without even reading it properly. I find a lot of people oposing Christianity very strongly here on myLot, and when I read their discussions, I see that thry do not have a lot of knowledge of the Bible. I also find a lot of true believers and that mkaes me excited.
I like it when God-oposers start a discussion. They think that they are putting Christians in their place but they are in fact creating opportunity for us to witness and then others read our responses and become believers. Isn't God great, using myLot as an instument for His glory. I love Him.

Christianity is not about being religious.
Christianity is not a religion of a book (The Bible is a great book but it is not what christianity is all about)
Christianity is all about our relationship with JESUS!! Get close to JESUS!! Talk with HIM frequantly!!

I do not understand what you mean, I don't know anyone who reads the bible and finds it a threat.

Yes, there are many people who go to school to learn religion and all they know is what teachers tell them. There are many religions that take only the parts of the Bible that they are comfortable with and promote them; leaving the other teachings from The Lord by the wayside, claiming that they don't pertain to us today, etc.
We need to study the scriptures for ourselves and pray continually for the answers to the questions we may have. He will show us the way...

I don't think it's just 'religious' people who see the bible as a challenge or threat to them - I think a lot of non-believers look at it the same way. I read the bible now and am thankful for all of God's promises that I wouldn't know about without the bible but also look at it as God talking to me - read the bible daily He is talking to me daily and often find it leading to the best of 'conversations' with Christ.
