Childhood neighborhood

What do you miss most about growing up? Where did you grow up? I grew up in a quite neighborhood full of mostly adults, but a few kids. The neighborhood was a "typical" neighborhood in that there were houses, trees, cars, people, etc, but the friends I made in that neighborhood were awesome. I remember playing catch till the sun went down, looking for the ice cream man and just generally enjoying life. I thought about posting this because it's now springtime and it doesn't hurt to remember things from time to time, so what are your memories of your childhood neighborhood? What made it special or unenjoyable to you?

I was brought up in an area where there were plenty of kids and we did not have to worry about strangers. It was an area where all the neighbours would help in the safety and up bringing of all the kids. You had to follow the rules of all the neighbours or you knew your parents would know by the time you got home.Playing after dark meant hide-and-go seek.Simplier times.Fun times.
