At age of 18, should a child be still dependent or independent?

I think it totally depends on the childs situation. I was dependent on my parents until I was out of college. I had a job and paid for a lot of my stuff but it's hard to go to school, study and work and still make good grades. Now if the kid is 18 and not working or going to school they need to be independent get out and get a job or go to school. You can't be dependent on your parents all your life. It will not do anyone any good.
