Some local bookstores here are already accepting reservations for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which will be released on July 21. I went to the bookstore last weekend and reserved my copy for $10. How about you? Have you reserved your copy?

why reserving already? May be i should really get on it then. I wonder if amazon.com is letting people "reserve" a book. Cause if there really are people reserving i wonder if there will be any available when they do come out. But i am extremely excited about the book coming out.

Amazon is allowing pre-orders of the book. And don't worry, they're printing millions of copies (don't know the exact number) so even with reserving, there will be plenty. I don't know about Amazon, but according to the reservation slips from Wal-Mart and the bookstores, like Walden's or BN, reserving your copy is no guarantee you'll get one when they come out. Which, of course, seems to defeat the purpose of reserving. I'm guessing that means something like: "If we don't have enough to go around, the people who have reserved and who are there get first priority for as long as we have stock." I think that's kinda how it went with the PS3, X360, and Wii, and I think reserving is pretty much the same, whether books or electronics.
Anyway, I don't think anyone really has anything to be worried about if they don't reserve.

Not yet...I plan to pre-order via Amazon.com since it's about half price there...still even at half price, I just have to wait until I have some extra money...lets face it for so-called children's books, they are pretty expensive

I actually haven't reserved my copy yet. I did for the last two books. I may reserve a copy tomorrow when I go to Wal-Mart, but I plan on being there on release night at midnight, and if HBP is any indication, I really won't need to reserve; they'll have plenty. But it'll be nice to have at least part of it paid off. I know Wal-Mart reserves them for about a 10% down payment, which is about $2, but I think they may let you put more on there, too. I may end up paying for most of it, if that's the case, just to make the final payment less in case the release date is on a 'non-payday' weekend.

I just reserved my copy at Barnes & Noble, and I reserved both a regular copy and a special edition. Although I'm not sure if that's where I'll end up going to get my book, I did it as a failsafe, in case my plans for that night fall through.
