Limit on posting new discussions?

Do you think that maybe mylot admin should limit the number of new discussions a member can start per day. This may help reducing low quality posts, when I check "new discussions" I see people posting a discussion every 10 seconds.. obviously nonsense posts or copy and paste from somewhere .. How many good discussion do you think one can start per day?

Yeah youre definitely right. My lot admin must prohibit its members from posting more than than ten discussion daily so to reduce unquality discussion. This will also make members to think of more quality discussion. Some users just blatant post and post out there disregarding the quality of the topic and their posts. Some user also have no time to reply to their post since they are too busy posting new discussion. I personnaly post only around 2 to 3 discussion. Then I'll go to the discussions my friends started and see if I could reply to my friends post Thats pretty good idea, to limit one's posts.

How right you are, berryappleberry. Thinking about it made me make a figure of 5 a day for maximum entries a day. We are supposed to read the responses we get thoroughly and give some comments, too, in return. How will one be able to do that honestly without sacrificing say, responding to the discussions of others around here? If they just keep on posting their own discussions without regard for posting their own responses to others will be a selfish act.

Exactly! i even saw people posting their older discussions again and again as they have hundreds of them :( We are supposed to read and comment and rate responses we get, personally at some days i can't even think of one good discussion to start and for sure i can't go above 10 if I tried.. some people can do better I know so a limit of 10 up to 500 posts then maybe 20 for above 500 pots members may be a good idea to slow down the cheaters.

It is a great idea indeed because the quality of discussions at mylot is deteriorating day by day. Mylot admin should considr this seriously.

Doesn't matter. This topic comes up at least a dozen times every month. It always falls on deaf ears. Just suck it up and deal as it is not going to change. Yes, worthless discussions flood the board and the starters get their literal .02 for everyone. Do 50 a day and you make a dollar. Wow. It is all about quantity and not quality.

I would hate to see a limit imposed. Some people just have a knack for posting good discussions. Goodness knows we need more good ones from which to choose! I would rather see myLot be more proactive in removing senseless discussions!! It seems they just won't hire any moderators or something. It would take several people perusing the boards to keep mindless posts, copied/pasted responses, meaningless letters as a response, and other trash removed!

I would say that five is a fair number. That way people can still start topics but they would be more inclined to answer others which many of these serial "starters" don't bother doing. Hopefully that should see an improvement in the quality of the questions at least, even if not the answers!

Good discussion. While I too am already tired of pseudo-posts like "Do You Drink Water" and How Many Times Do You Pee a Day?", I'm not about rule-making so we should just vote with our comments.

That's a tough one, because I've seen people have a lot of discussions to start that are all legitimate points... but I would like to see a limit so that people cannot just use those "cheater" programs that post nonsense or a bunch of jokes from other websites, or their referral links over and over. Maybe it could be something like 25 per day until you reach 500 posts. By then, I think, like the copy and paste rule, we would know who has quality and who is just here to try and scam the system. We, as myLotters, have been pretty good at policing ourselves. I think these restrictions would help us out a lot.

Yes i think no one can post more than 25 "good" discussions a day and do it every day, logically it can't be of "quality" people must run out of ideas in a day or two at that rate unless they are cheating or posting nonsense..

i think it is much better that there is no limitations when it comes to posting and responding to some discussion. because thats the way we share our ideas and we communicate but we just make sure that we posted a quality and relevant discussion not nonsense posts or any copy and paste discussion. We must be honest enough in responding to discussions.

I have noticed this happening, too. Maybe the best way to solve this problem will be to add more guidelines about how we make the discussions one starts to have some sense. Like requiring these start up discussions to run some lines at least beyond three. There are so many running a few words on a subject and then along the same thought, makes another one with a few words again, then makes this about 5 or more times over. Very senseless, really, I agree with you. For now, let us stay away from these type of discussions so those who are into it, will stop doing it here in mylot.

Yes, i used to respond to any thing in my first few days in mylot, now I can sense the cheaters and stay away from their posts.

I don't think a limit should be placed on posts per day, but a minimum number of words or sentences would be a good idea. I hate to see these nonsense posts being posted every 10 seconds or so, but what makes me really annoyed is that some of the newer members might respond to these and then end up having their responses deleted along with the post when mylot do their clean up, and then these newer members lose a few cents of the money they've earned. I don't really know how many good discussions a person could post in a day. I think it would depend on each individual person and how they are at typing and coming up with quality subjects. I personally do WAY more responding than posting. it's what I feel comfortable with.

I think we have freedom here on myLot.The more number we post the better chances we earn more.Generally, many will just do it that way.But I think the point here is that some users forgot to think that we should try our best to post quality discussions in order to have a meaningful one and that helps also other myLot users. On my part I only make at most 5 discussions in one day. Most of the time I only enjoyed responding quality discussions.

Yes we all supposed to respond to more discussions, limiting the numbers of new discussions will also help us all get more responses to out "quality" discussions that sometimes goes unnoticed :(

Some days I don't post any discussions. Other days a few. I think some kind of limit might help. Or perhaps a limit on new users. I know it sounds harsh but new users who aren't sure what they are doing come on and make pointless discussions. Perhaps they should have to reach 100 posts before they are able to start their own. By which time they should have a vague idea of what it's all about. Have a nice day!

it's a big wide door for abuse that mylot should limit, look at the "new discussions" page a few times through out the day and you will come across one of the members I'm talking about, they post like machines and they may even be using some automation..

i totally agree with you. they should set limits or criteria about the discussions that are being posted. a lot of discussions i see here are a little bit subtle or not that relevant. we should really think of quality not quantity. a lot of people only post discussions so they could earn money but they forget that one of my lot's purpose is to have an intellectual interactive network. it is a site where people can have the freedom to express ideas and get good answers for good questions. if we just post whatever thing we like, how could we have a good discussion?

i don't think there should be any limitations on posting new discussions...some may seem nonsense to you but to others they may think otherwise. i think it's an endless thingy...with all the members of my lot i'm sure it's impossible to stop people from posting besides that's where they get their earnings.

I really don't think that mylot should do that. There are some users who are using mylot for their full time employment e.g some people from poor countries. I think we should get the liberty of posting as much as can. Thats really my opinion.

I normally post one discussion only per day, wildhorse. I like to post well thought meaningful one rather than to keep posting whatever comes to my mind. I do have some friends who will keep posting countless discussions within the minute. I simply turn the notifier off. Its really annoying at times but we can't do much about it. Its their prerogative to post 5 to 10 threads in a day. :0

I agree with you. I believe that making three new discussions a day should be very good. When I think of a new discussion before I post it I do a search and most of the times the discussion already exists. This should already be implemented. Or at least they could make something like the copy past policy. For example, if you have 500 + posts you can make 5 new discussions a day. It would improve largely the quality of discussions since people wouldn't create 10 new discussions in one hour that would be deleted by the administrator later.

I think it may not be different to the quality of discussions even if there is limit on it. If someone is going to post some low quality discussions, they may still post them to the mzximum limit. Members should have their freedom to choose how many they can post and their friends can also have choice to reply them or not. A low quality discussion will not get many replies anyway.. work hard....

Yea, I don't think it'd be fair to limit the posts. Cause everyone thinks differently, and what may be an important post to one, may not be to another. I see silly things all the time, and you know what happens? No one responds to them, which means they have a post wasted and that will make them no money. That's punishment enough. I mean, I even have a couple that no one has responded to, and I don't think they're stupid posts..they just happened to be posts that no one else was interested in. I think that when people post illegitimate posts...they'll start to see that people will recognize their name/avatar and start to ignore them all together, and they'll get a bad rep...therefore, they'll eventually give up. I don't think the good quality posters should be punished on behalf of the ignorant.

different people may disagree on what constitutes a good quality post. i don't blame people for posting a lot because it is the major way to make money with mylot. if we all responded to each others posts we could all make money together and still be consistent with the goal of mylot which is to bring people together.
