Windows Vista has only been out in general consumer release for a month, but already Microsoft is touting it as the best-selling version of Windows ever released. The company announced that Vista sales—licenses sold to PC manufacturers, copies sold to retailers, and upgrades ordered through the Windows Vista Express Upgrade program—have exceeded 20 million copies. Microsoft says that this is represents a "more than doubling" of the initial pace of Windows XP sales, which reached only 17 million in January 2002, after two months on the market.

Woow WIndows Vista.. what a hot subject i can say. I have talked a lot in my area with many of my friends and all of them had only positive thoughts about it. I can say that i was blow off by this new windows system. Some things certainly lack to it but this new look which Microsoft has incorporated in it certainly do the money you would give for it. I have waited this new system for 2 weeks and here i am using it. It was pretty hard for me to buy it because in my area it can't be found. So i had to ask a friend from another part of my country to order me. I am so happy using it and all i have are only words of gratitdue. I post here a short description about VISTA. Windows Vista contains hundreds of new features; some of the most significant include an updated graphical user interface (GUI) and visual style dubbed Windows Aero, improved searching features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD Maker, and completely redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems. Vista also aims to increase the level of communication between machines on a home network using peer-to-peer technology, making it easier to share files and digital media between computers and devices. For developers, Vista includes version 3.0 of the .NET Framework out of the box. The .Net Framework makes it significantly easier for developers to write high-quality applications than with the traditional Windows API. I don't think it is a flop i think this system is great!

they may have sales. it's just because xp users are tired of viruses and bugs. and they do not have a choice because their hardware is x86. so manufacturers are going for windows. but some manufacturers are selling computers cheap with a licensed linux or even a free os preloaded.

well its not flop, but its not a hit also. just remember how many systems this planet had in 2002, and just compare that figure with that of 2007. the figure of 2007 would be more than 20 times so sales should also about 20 times up, but here its marginally up (15%). So i will say that its not a flop but still its not a big deal.

But as you remember the launch of XP was not too popular. it takes some time to become popular. same is the case with vista. and the profit is to company so they belief that vista is successful

Yes Vista is out in the market and making a name for itself but what people don't know is the number of frustrated and unhappy customers who are paying extra just to downgrade to XP. Microsoft knows this and I don't think they're doing something about it. I hope I could make it clrearer "DO NOT BUY VISTA YET!!!"
