What happened to Benson that season?

You remember when Benson and Stabler split up for a while? I'm assuming it was because of something personal where the writers had to write Benson out. Does anyone know what happened?

Yes,she had a baby,but I do not know what it was.I did not like the show without her.I glad to know I'm not the only one.I'm glad she's back,and the other woman left because she could not handle it.

Didn't she continue to be shown though? She went with some FBI group, undercover... and the rest was pretty anti-climactic. I don't know what happened in real life, but I don't like how soap-opera ish the show became after that.. I stopped watching after Benson came back and the new girl appeared. Is the new girl still there? Is it still too much like a Soap Opera? I'm hesitant to start watching again, I was upset at the writers lol.

Well that is understandable. To honest, I have to tape the episodes because I'm never home and I'm not sure if I'm even watching the current season so I can't say. I'll pay more attention to that and let you though...
