i owned several dogs before when i was a little younger and they were cool pets...i used to play tag w/ them and it was fun... when i came to the US i noticed that my hubby doesn't really like dogs, he thinks dogs are uncool, noisy and very dependent. he loves cats very much and believes cats are very smart, independent and clean. he always says that cats are smarter than dogs. how about u guys that owned both? what do u think? on ur own opinion and experiences who are the smartest? cats? or dogs?

Actually studies have proven that dogs are in fact smarter. Cleanliness does not make an animal smart. Iguanas can be trained to use a litter box just like cats, it's doesn't make them smarter. As for independence... well that's just silly. Cats are extremely dependent on their owners. They may not need love like dogs, but that's just their nature, not intelligence. I think cockroaches are independent, still doesn't make them smart. Personally, I've owned cats, dogs and birds. They all make great pets depending on your preference. I honestly don't see as much personality in cats as I do dogs and birds. Most cats act pretty much the same.

This is very easily answered, and is not too hard to remember either. Especially if you repeat it a few times. Ready? Cats rule, dogs drool....cats rule, dogs drool... :)

I'm Driving - I'm driving cat gif
I think they are both pretty smart but maybe the cat is a little smarter as it stay aloof and independent and doesn't see the need to chase balls and such to get what it wants.

I have owned both. I think each are smarter in their own ways. Dogs are more, playful, companion oriented, smart.. Cats are more emotional blackmail smart. They tend to be the ones who knock the item in the floor, thus getting the dog in trouble for it.. I love both animals personally.

I don't think either one is necessarily smarter. I have had both cats and dogs and I think they are smart for different reasons. Cats are really smart because they are clean, and very self sufficient. Dogs are smart because they will come to you when you call them and most of them can do tricks if you spend the time to teach them. I personally prefer cats because they don't need as much attention, but I think both animals are very smart in thier own ways.
