Do you think the Asian Girl part was totally unnecessary?

I totally feel they should have made the Asian Girl part's plot that she impacted the other families in some other way. What do you think?

well,to some extent,I agree with you.cause, until the last minute ,the director didn't tell us who was the real murder killing the mother. It leaves a puzzle. However, the Japnese Girl's plot also reveals the theme of the movie. I think the movie is trying to tell us,no matter where you are ,what color you are ,poor or wealthy, you can't avoid suffering and destiny?

It seemed like the japanese connection was the weakest part of the movie. Not as intertwined as the other stories. Personally, this was not my favorite movie.

Unnecessary but she is the most interesting part.

I do not think the Asian girl component of the movie was unnecesary. I believe it was one more of the "parts" of the movie message. The idea behing the Assian girl story, I believe, is to show how lonely a person can be in a fully developed country/society, where the multitude of gadgets, and entertainment is available to its citizens. However, the core values, the familry relationships, the friends, the culture, may be absent. Contrast her story with the story of the Morrocan boys where thjey did not have anything (materially speaking) but had a father and a mother who loved them and took care of them.
