Hi Friends...... Well...... have you ever given a thought to the very fact that the sugar that you eat may not be "Vegetarian"...... Yes.... this is true. Around 70% of the sugar available throughout the world is Non-Vegetarian. Now, this would be true only for those people who are real Vegans. Why Is Sugar Non-Vegerarian - 90% of the sugar manfucatured accross the world is made from "Cane Sugar". While refining the Cane sugar syrup, the brown liquid is passed through a series of Filters. These filters are made up of "Carbon Black" which is effect is "Bone Ash". What is Carbon Black/ Bone Ash - Bone Ash is made by decomposing at a very high pressure and temperature, the bones of dead cattle. Although, Bone Ash is made using bones of cattle who die a natural death. So in effect, if the sugar syrup is filtered through "Bone Ash", we cannot say that Sugar is fully Vegetarian. Although, there are some Sugar manufacturers who have shifted to a process which does not use the above method of filtration, the percentage of such Manufacturers is quite low.

I don't think many people are aware of this. I wonder sometimes whether confectionary that says it is vegan really is, or whether they aren't aware of the process to make the sugar white. Do you know of any brands of sugar that are vegetarian?

You got the point my friend. It is as same as if rice is mixed with chicken while making a biryani (Chicken Rice). Sugar is never considered a vegetarian, but it is considered as a bye product of a non-vegetarian process, which you have described rightly. And if any one of you are looking for a vegetarian sugar, then kindly check for stevia rabudiana also known as stevia, which is a true tree based product and atleast 50 times sweeter than sugar, with absolutely zero calories. All the best mike the lil smiley devil
