Sainthood? What do you think?

Have you heard that Pope John Paul II may be the next saint. What do you think about this? Sainthood? What religion are you and does that have anything to do with how you feel about this? Do you think that Pope JP II cured the nun or what do you think happened? Have you ever called on a dead loved one for help?Should they be a saint? I was raised Catholic and Baptist because my parents both strongly believed in their religion.I studied religions for years looking for something that I could believe and would fit my life.I believed if it doesn't all fit together then it won't work.I became a Bahai 28 years ago. I have had times in my life when I have been in a very tight spot not knowing if I would be alive the next day.One of these times I was thinking of my passed mother.I remember thinking"Mama help me!" I'm alive today.Did my dead mother save my life?If so shouldn't she be my saint? I'm just throwing some ideas out there. What do you think? http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Mar29/0,4670,PopeJohnPaulSainthood,00.html

I believe that alot of different people should be condsidered for saint hood. I don't believe mother Thersa has been yet but if anyone she should be. I often throw a prayer to my grandmother. I think she should be the patron saint of my family and I am not trying to be blamfous (sp).

I'm not part of any religion, but i don't disagree with people being canonised (sp?). I do think that this has come about purely because he was a pope, because as you said, if this had happened regarding an 'ordinary' person, they wouldn't be made a saint! I think that to become a saint, you should have to do something really special - mother teresa deserved it, for example. everyone has someone that they regard a saint for themself, but for someone to be made a national saint, publicly, they should have done something that really changed the lives of the people! i know that the pope has an important role, but i don't agree that he should be made a saint!

Thanks for you reply.Mother Theresa was a wonderful woman and there are most likely others like her. It's funny how because of the media one person becomes famous while another do same or more will not be heard of.I find it curious!

I have no idea who is qualified to be a saint, as I am not catholic, but I believe in saints, and I pray to my deceased grandmother as well.
