hi mylotters, I would like share with u information about one of colleague who is young and dynamic but never has the habbit of sharing knowledge whatever he has learned during his tenure under me. He joined as my sub-ordinate during 2005 and I trained him a lot in ABAP, now after 1 year he has learned a lot and learnt more than me, whenever I request to educate us or share his knowledge with u he gives some excuses, atleast one fine day he left the job without any information letting us in trouble. Have u come accross such people in your life and what do u think about such characters. Please comment.

Yes, there are all kinds of people and such nasty people are one kind. He is probably jealous of his knowledge and worried that you will surpass him one day. He may have won in this aspect, but he lost friendship and respect.

Yes, he is the one but at the same time I found that he is not confident enough to express or teach or giving a presentation about the skills which he has learnt. At the same times he seems to be coward, I don't know how such people can come up in the carriers. Thanks for the comment.

I put a piece in their yearly performance plan about sharing technical knowledge. One might be more inclined to share, especially if rated poorly for not doing so.

Oh thanks, it is really a good idea where everyone has to do, I will try with the new guy who will be joining the position and at the same time I will propose to my management too. If is really good have a point about knowledge in the appraisals with a higher rating than others, since KM plays a major role in the organization behaviour. Thanks for the tip.
