I just happen to stumble upon this discussion tonight. I had to respond because I posted a discussion about having a truck driver for a husband a couple of weeks or so ago..and I too, didn't get a lot of people responding. My husband is an OTR truck driver. He is home sometimes once during the week, other times he is gone all week and he is always home on friday and for the rest of the weekend. Yes, I do miss him terribly but he is doing what he has to do right now to care for our children. I do like having some time to myself even though I miss him sleeping in bed next to me there are nights when I like sleeping alone and get the entire bed to myself..lol But see, I was a single mom for 5 years, therefore, I am use to being alone. But now that he is here, it is sometimes hard to be without him, but I think right now at this time in my life I would probably go crazy if I were with him every single night..this may sound selfish but I do need "me" time.

Yes, you are right, so many people have asked "gosh don't you hate that he is gone most of the week". When I say "no, I am fine with it", I think they believe I am crazy, or our marriage isn't as good as it should be. We are doing great, and it is working out fine for us right now. Thanks for giving me the best response, I guess since no one else responded I deserve it...lol..kidding. But anyhow, Take care

My husband is a HGV class I driver which means he can drive heavy goods vehicles. He works days and only drives in the UK which means he is home every night. He works 50-60 hours a week and brings home lots of money, but he does say that he gets to sleep 2 to 3 hours sometimes on shift because he has to wait hours to load his vehicle at times. He likes his job, he doesn't get hassled by colleagues or bosses during the day and basically gets to drive around and see the whole country. He has only been away during the night a couple of times when he's stayed overnight as he was so far away but he has also worked a night shift a few times which he doesn't like :)
