I'm Starting a Forum

Hello guys and gals
I've been a webmastress for almost 10 years. I've realized the best way to get people together is through a forum. I also know that a lot of forums die throughout the years and it's important to me that this does not happen to mine.
My forum is called always informed. It's only about a week old.
I was sick of going to 8 different forums to get what I needed. Already I have over 147 topics. Ranging from news, sports, celebrities, poetry, relationship advice, debates, ganes...and a whole lot more. I even have one set up for interent marketing.
I'm not charging for it, I'm not demanding that you stop by, but I would really appreciate if you all could help me out a little bit.
Added benefit is that you can find out ways to expose people to mylot.
We also link up with other sites to increase traffic. Any sites will do (Just not adult)
My discussion question is, what makes a great forum work?

Great people and firm moderators who enforce the notion of disagreement without being disagreeable. I can't tell you how many forums I've quit in disgust because I got flamed for disagreeing with someone.
Some previously great forums have become worse that useless because they allowed a "clique" to form that began to treat the forum as their own personal playground, driving off new and old members alike. People seem to do whatever they can get away with, so pick your mods carefully - and watch them even more carefully!
BTW, on the signup page, in the second sentence of the user agreement, I think you might be missing a word; I think you meant to say, this is not only not humorous, but legal actions...
As it is, the sentence reads, "This is not only humorous, but legal actions..."

Actually, it's all pre-made. I had nothing to do with that lol. I'm still working on a few kinks. with my sense of humor I would probably say something like "Play nice, fight fair, or get beat with sticks"
not really lol, but you never know
