Which do you like better, Dr Who or Torchwood?

Torchwood is good but I don't see it lasting to long. From the few I've seen it seems like it repeats itself or other shows. Unfortunnatly I don't see it lasting much longer then a season maybe two. If it goes past that then it could really take off. It will never be better then Dr Who but it could have it's own following. Another thing I see about it is that it is abit to hollywoody for my taste. Dr Who is to but not as bad. I guess I just like the older ones better as far as story lines.

Torchwood was a very well thought out program, and the best spin off series that I can think of. Captain Jack Harkness took a good part in Doctor Who, and the part in Torchwood certainly suited the character well. I expected him to appear in the current series of Doctor Who, because at the end of the Torchwood series the TARDIS was heard as he disappeared. The title Torchwood was not chosen at random like many people believe, but is actually an anagram of Doctor Who.

Okay, now that Torchwood is being shown in the US, I can finally chime in on this one. I think that I might like Dr. Who better right now because I find it a bit more light hearted and I really like Martha. If you asked me this question last season, I think it might be a tie. Torchwood is a great show in that it is a lot darker and sexier than Dr. Who. Torchwood appeals to an older audience and I think of it a lot like the way Angel related to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Back then, I also preferred the original Buffy to Angel. Part of the reason I like Torchwood is because of the tie-ins to Dr. Who and I think that if it was just an unrelated series, I might not have given it the attention that did when it premiered on BBCA. I have hopes that Torchwood is gowing to grow a lot on it's own (we are still pretty early in the first season) and become more excited and independant. Either way, I'm certainly enjoying both shows.

I definetely prefer Dr Who to torchwood, it's more lighthearted and entertaining - and more family friendly! I htink more thought / money etc also goes into Dr Who. I do like torchwood though, but it get the impression it's not quite sure what sort of show it wants to be - it's a bit dodgy at times too! I think they may be trying a bit too hard to make it "different" and i think it needs to make up it's mind about what sort of show it is!! I'm hoping the next series will be more settled down. Though it is still very good, whereas Dr Who is excellent!

I prefer Doctor Who actually, way more over then Torchwood, but Torchwood just keeps getting better and better. I mean, when I first started watching Doctor Who, I didn't really like it, but it got deeper and deeper. That's what is kind of going along with Torchwood, & their characters are getting more and more developed, and for once, i'm really anxious as to what next episode will be like with Gwen & whats his face as secret lovers.

Personally I like Torchwood better. (Jack + Ianto = slaming hot + brilliant!!!) But I think Dr. Who has it's merits. ^.^

I think they are equally good and love the way they have started to weave the storylines together but still keep their individual identities
