Should I Change my Car to Gas?

The price of petrol is far too high in Britain yet the gas is less than half the price. I would have an electric car if there was one. What do you think I should do? Have a nice day from Deeeky.

I think you'll find that an electric vehicle was tested some years ago, but they didn't go on with it. Maybe the battery wasn't going to last long enough or something. I'm not sure. Gas is a good idea, and a couple of days ago, I saw a discussion mentioning a car that runs on Air, if you please. Air costs absolutely nothing, but would the whizz kids get their speed out of these cars. I think not, somehow, but costwise, yes... a great thought. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend.

If everyone started using electric cars then the power stations would use more fuel to keep up with the demand for the charging up of all the batteries that are in those cars. And being charged overnight would be a strain on night time useage too. Have a nice day from Deeeky.

True! I guess that's why they abandoned the idea, plus the cars wouldn't have been very popular with a top speed of around 43 mph. My Honda 90 did that, years ago! lol

I noticed a few here were confused so thought I should probably say that by gas you mean propane gas. We call petrol gas. I have heard of the conversion for it but I have no idea what the cost is on it. If it will save you money then it might be worth it. With how the prices keep rising I know I wish we had a hybrid or something similar instead of just a gas running car.

The problem is emeraldisle that the British are tax mad and if more people changed to gas then the price would rocket. Years ago diesel was much cheaper to buy and since the sale of diesel cars has grown enormosely the price of diesel has overtook petrol in price.

What is the differance between gas and petrol. Here in the us gas is high. I always thought that our gas and your petrol was the same thing?

In Britain gas is put in a tank that is pressurised and is half the price of petrol. Which means twice as many miles for the money spent.

Hi Deeky, Honda do a Hybrid car with batteries in the back my friend has one, can't think what the model is but it's only two seater and has petrol option if you need to change it over. I'll agree with one of your other responders that to have one converted is quite expensive and refilling them can be few and far between unless you live close by to a station that sells gas. Good luck in whatever you choose!

Having the two options has to be the best solution.
