I take my lunch to work each day and I eat low calorie/low fat generally. I am looking for some new ideas besides sandwiches and salads. I love lunches that I can throw in a bag.....any ideas for me?

I also take my lunch to work every day....and I am trying to watch my calories too. You are right, salads and sandwiches can get old pretty fast. 2 new things I have encorporated into my lunch are veggies, pita and hummus. And Vegatable soup. The Veggies pita and hummus is pretty self explainatory. But I think the they key is to get a good variety of vegatables, and also try different types of hummus. I know my local market has lot of different types..I especially like the red pepper version. For vegatable soup...steam some vegatable and put then in a container. I like to add miso paste and some other seasonings. Keep this dry till you are ready to eat. Whe you are ready for your soup, add hot water and the miso paste will make a yummy broth for your soup.

Have you ever had miso soup at a japanese resturant? Miso paste is what they use to make the soup. It makes a salty, savory broth. I really like it. Many stores (like Trader joes) sell packets of instant miso. Maybe you should try one of those to see if you like it.

If you have access to a microwave you could try the HealthyChoice frozen Entrees. I can always find coupons or a market that has them on sale for about $2. You could bring a yogurt or grapes for snack. I am too lazy to make a lunch and this is my solution.

Besides sandwiches and salads... well, there is a lot of variety you can do with those (sandwiches, wraps, pitas stuffed with veggies are yummy). I also make a lot of pasta dishes for my lunches when I'm working (mac & cheese, macaroni salad with veggies and low fat italian dressing, spaghetti, tortellini). Other than that the best way to stay healthy is add fruit and veggies to your lunch, and if you need something more filling granola and oatmeal are great, and I like to take a chunk of fresh homemade bread :)
