Did you answer the same discussion twice by mistake?

I was trying to meet the payout level (finally made it :) and I was answering as much discussions daily as I can, mainly from my friends list. after a while I can't remember what I responded to before when the discussion comes up again at the top of "discussions my friends started". I discovered I responded twice to 2 discussions. does this happen to you? I know we don't get credited for the 2d response but is this still considered as an abuse?

That used to happen to me when I first joined because I used to read a lot of discussions and then didn't really remember which ones I've replied to, and if a discussion had like 50 or 60 responses, it's kinda hard to go through all that searching for your own answer. Especially if you're in a hurry as you were. But I devised a clever way to never have to do that again. You see, every time I respond to anyone's discussion whether they're in my friend's list or not, whether their discussions are totally in disagreement with me or not, before I hit the respond button, I hit the +ve rating button and rate them instead and then respond. This way if I come back to the same discussion and I don't remember answering it, my lot will remember it for me, with the 'Rated!' remark on the left instead of the rating icons. It's a simple system and it works for me. But some other times I've accidentally hit the post response button twice or my response has been duplicated and that's just a glitch, can't do much about it. But if it's memory you're worried about, then try the rating system I told you about, works every time. And the best part is that it takes no time at all to just hit the +ve button, but stick to positive because hey if a discussion is worth responding to then it deserves a positive, right?

vega makes an excellent point, this is something that many members do including myself also. It saves me lot of time from reading through all the responses again. :)

Thank you for your tip :) Someone above suggested the same thing and I was already rating everyone i respond to and as you said if it worth responding to then it's good, I guess I just didn't rate this one the first time, or I would have noticed it, anyway i will make sure not to miss the rating and to check for it before i respond from now on :)

yes, this is what is bad about mylot, if you make a mistake or a typo it stays always there and you can't do anything about it.. this can be embarrassing sometimes.

First congratulations on reaching the payout level for this month on mylot. I am not sure if i have ever answered the same discussion twice as i have so many discusions to chose from my friends discussions, and from my interests and top discussions and i also rate my discussions so i know that if i replied that discussions earliar. Then i don't post that much and also take interests in the discussions i reply so i have an idea if i have responded to the discussions earlier or not. But i don't even if you accidently reply to same discussions it is abuse unless you are abusing or copy pastng the discussions. Just leave a comment you have done it by mistake. good luck. Happy posting :)

Thank you :) yes, i came back and left an explanation, I guess we all can make this mistake as we respond to too many discussions daily and each day.. with time and similar topics you can lose track sometimes. my double posts were not anything like copy/paste, just the same thing in different words..

It's not an abuse, just try to live a comment on that said post and apologize for you accidentally double-posted at it. To avoid a repition of this, try to look first at the post you've previously been through. Or you can also rate the topic itself, to make sure that you've been there previously. This hasn't occured to me, because I try to check my previous posts every once in a while. Don't worry much about it, I'm sure the threadhost would understand it!;)

I just went back and posted a comment now as someone above advised, I'm not worried about the discussion owner because she is a good friend but was worried that someone else might report it as spam/abuse. Thank you for your useful tips.

I think that you point out another reason that mylot states to read all of the responses prior to posting in the discussions to see if you can add something to it or just say the same thing that others have said. I don't believe that I have done this simply because I read all of the responses prior to posting. Unless their is more than 30 responses, then I tend to either skip the discussion or just skim through the rest of the pages. I have heard of this happening before. Especially by couples who share the same accounts. One will post and then the other may and they have 2 different opinions on the same topic. I would find it quite amusing if I happened to come across 2 posts to the same discussion with differing opinions. I don't think of it as abuse and as stated above so long as you go back and place a comment with brief explanation then no one should think that your were trying to scam the system. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

Thank you for your opinion, yes i should read through discussions but i was in a hurry to reach payout level before the end of the month. Also I think it would be hard to find discussions to respond to if we will only respond if we have something new to add.. it might be new but each has his own style in saying differently. at least that's how I see it but thanks for you insightful response.

I don't think it is abuse. If it were to happen continuosly then it might be. I always rate the discussions when I respond to them so that I know if I have responded to them or not. I'm pleased you made the payout! I did as well! And to think a short while ago we were both thinking that we wouldn't make it! Congratulations to us both!

Oh yes :) we made it, i really had doubts but my earnings levels started to increase toward the end of the month after it was frustratingly low (1c a post) at the beginning despite my star rate and quality responses, it seems that mylot software takes time to evaluate some members as someone suggested to me.. Hopefully next payout will be much bigger for both of us :)

I have done that. I have the notify on for all of my friends. Sometimes, i will see there posts while just browsing the site. Sometimes I just read it & other times I answer it. So at night, I go to my email & respond to each one of my friends discussions. So if I had responded earlier, sometimes I do accidently respond 2 times. After I have added my response, i go back & read the other responses. IF i find I've already answered 1 time, I will add a comment & let them know what happened. I do this because that way they know that it was not on porpose & also because when someone reports abuse, mylot will go back & read the discussion. They will see were I explained what happened. So far it has worked out for me. But I am not sure if it is considered abuse or not. Im sure mylot understands that at times we do make mistakes. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Thank you for your help, this is what I should do, leave a comment to explain about it, I will see if I can locate these discussions again and do that.

I have done this where I have answered the same one twice. I've also had discussions where I thought I answered, & I actually remember typing out the answer & posting it, & when I went back to that discussion a good while later, my response was missing, & I responded again. I don't know if my reponse got deleted or just didn't make it through. I have been in several discussions where I typed my response, & then I find myself responding to a response to my response, to the point that my one response takes up most of the page from a nice long conversation.

I know I've done this especially when the discussion is an older one and it's been a few months. I try to always rate discussions I respond to now so that can sometimes help but I've had some that don't show as being rated. I think it's a glitch that now and then clears it out. Either way though I don't think it would be considered abuse. You can respond more then once after all and so long as it wasn't a copy/paste job then it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, i have done so many accidentally response. It happened when I response a discussion but the browser seem not responding so I refreshed and type the same answer and post it. In the end I notice that my answer doubled, so i have to add comment that it was a mistake. It wasted time, right ?

i wouldn't doubt if i have at least once. if you have a lot of new friends discussions,it's easy to do it by accident. i don't think they'd see it as abuse, you just wouldn't get credit for it.

Hi! Not yet and with this post and all the tips said here it wont happen to me..lol. Barring of course technical glitches and short-term memory loss of all the tips I have learned in this discussion. But then as most of the posters here have said, we are only humans. Mistakes are what makes us better and brighter. :) Good day and happy posting!

I responded twice yesterday, i could not find my reply below the discussion because of the slow speed, so i responded again. But now, you can find your no responses in the left "discussions with on responses"

I don't think it would be thought of as wrong , I am sure I have done it a few times , If a discussion has lots of replies and I don't think I have replied before I just go for it , I am sure we all do it from time to time , I honestly wouldn't worry about it xxr

No I haven't happen to me. I always take a look at the discussion and the time it was made this will give me idea. If a discussion that has the same issue was made I will look at the time it was made and if its just 24hours or less old I definitely remember if I already response to that.

It also have happen to me. It's only because when I first start I was answering a lot of discussion from my friend without rate them. Because now everytime I answer a discussion, I rate them. Like that I know that I've answer the question. But the other day I respond to a question I first respond when I was still a newbie here so I didnt see the rate mark lol.

Yep, guilty as charged LOL I'm usually careful not to do so, of course, but it happened once exactly as you describe. It was a subject that interested me, and I saw it coming up on the top of "discussions my friends started" and answered before thinking. I usually remember what I answered, but in this case, somehow I didn't. I posted a comment on my answer apologizing for the double posting, and I really hope it is not considered abuse.
