I was watching nick at nite and Growing Pains came on. I remember loving the theme song when the show was originally on television, and it got me thinking about tv themes. The Greatest American Hero had a fantastic theme song. I loved the theme from WKRP in Cincinatti. Another of my favorites was from Perfect Strangers. Of course there are the classics, "the Brady Bunch," "The Partridge Family"; and even those with not lyrics, "The Andy Griffith Show," and the "Dick Van Dike show," come to mind. So tell me. What TV theme song brings back the most memories for you??

"And we'll do it our way, yes our way. Make all our dreams come true, for me and you." Oh, I loved that song!! I can't sing, though, so don't listen. LOL

For sentimental reasons, my favorite tv show theme song is from "Hawaii Five-O". I used to watch it with my gran in the late 60's. She just loved James MacArthur. Thanks for reminding me, it brought a huge smile to my face. It has no lyrics, but it rocks out on the drums.

Brings back memories of surfers and hula dancers. That was a cool theme. And between the shots of hawaii, they would show the cops. Dan-o was always my favorite. And my favorite line, which I am told was never uttered..."Book him dan-o."

Though I hated the show Married With Children, I loved the theme song. I'm a huge fan of Frank Sinatra and "Love and Marriage" is a great tune.

I think the catchiest, most memorable is one that you mentioned, the Andy Griffith Show. All the oldies with words are pressed deeply into my memory, it's impossible not to sing along, at least in my head. But I have two other choices that are pretty obscure. Another whistled one, (at least I think it's a human whistle- maybe it just makes me want to whistle) is from the BBC series of Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy. Whenever I watched the show, I always wished they would play the theme more than once. And the other one is a show not many people remember. It was ER with George Clooney, but it was a sitcom he did before the other ER. It had a great theme sung by Lou Rawls. "We've got a real emergency here. And I simply don't know what to do. There's so much tension in the atmosphere. I'm in a panic that I might not get through." You are fortunate that you can't hear me right now.
