Would you have a DNR (Do Not Rescusitate) order?

This is something I have been thinking a lot about. I have no desire to live as a vegetable, or even seriously ill with an incurable disease.
So if you were, say in a coma without any chance of coming out of it, and you had a heart attack would you want to be resuscitated?

we had to do that with our grandson, that was the hardest thing for my son and daughter to do. He was only 14 months old

Ok.. I would say no. I wouldn't want to be a burden on my family. Nor would I want to be kept alive if there wasn't going to be any quality or life, not quanity of life. They can keep you going til the cows come home. But what kind of life is that really ? At this point of no return in a coma no less, I liken that to just being a shell of who was a person. There are no more memories, or thoughts, or anything pertaining to who you were. So yes, I would have a DNR order in place.
Excellent question.. !

I personally want a DNR on me. Even with the advancements in the medical field, i think it is painful to see my family holding on to a thread, in the flickering hope of seeing me recover. Not only is it emotionally and physically stressful, it is stressful financially as well. This will definitely burden my loved ones. I have to tell them all that if they love me, let me go. - Lyn

I do not have a DNR but I do have a living will that states what I will allow to be done to me. If I'm in the position where I could live I'd want everything to be done(DNR means they wont bring you back at all.) If it's a simple thing - I want to fight it out. If I'm going to be the next Terri Shiavo, I want the plug pulled. My parents have made this decision for me once before. I dont want them to do it again, thus the living will.
