I tried to get Joomla to do what I wanted to do for the last few days and ended up deleting it out of complete and utter disgust. Is there anything easier to use? I'm looking at Wordpress, but I think it might be TOO simple for what I want to do. I want to have a basic website thats easy to update with links to files with preview pictures. I'm lost here!

I've recently started playing with Drupal. This seems to be pretty easy to set up, and I intend to use it for a fairly 'text heavy' site that requires a lot of regular updating.
Take a look at http://www.drupal.org. Wordpress is OK, but if you're planning on a site that has a lot of images you might want to look at 'photo gallery' software like Coppermine or Gallery.

Hope this helps.

I have tried Joomla once but i couldnt find any good plug ins for it so i uninstalled it and installed Php-nuke, Php-nuke works very well and it has a lot of plug ins to download and a lot of templates for free, you can download Php-Nuke from www.phpnuke.org and the plug ins can be found on www.phpnuke-downloads.com.
I have my own site as well it is built with Php-Nuke www.cellphonejunky.co.uk.
