Once again today is the 1st of April, seems to happen regularly every year! This year I've only seen a few jokes in the media, the best is obviously Google's Free Lavvy pan (toilet to non-Scots) Broadband set up. Other one that I saw in 'Mail-on-Sunday' is a Carbon Offset Tax on using barbecues (fine of £50 for each barbacue). F A G-NAV - Satellite tracking device for monitoring cigarette smoking in cars used for business use to check for non-compliance with the new smoking laws in England. The BBC has a website for April Fool jokes (I think this is from last year though) at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A10694423 There is also this site as well which looks more up to date. http://www.aprilfool.me.uk/

I din't even realise it was APril Fools until 8pm at night which I think is a really good sign as it means I didnt get fooled. I've never really seen annything that pranky on April fools but I suppose if I am walking around not knowing what the date is then I am not going to notice.

I've missed it sometimes as well, but one thing I've noticed is that the newspapers save up some really silly but true articles to publish on April 1st to fool us into thinking that its a joke even when its true.

That's what is supposed to add to the fun on April 1st, they usually tell you over the next couple of days

I'm sure there will be a lot more next year, some of them can be quite convincing.

These were funny. I enjoyed your translation of lavvy! I think the English say "loo".

When I used to work for BEA I used to get a kick out of asking American tourists (not just on April Fools Day) if they were coming to Scotland for the Haggis Shooting Season. You'd be surprised how many didn't know I was kidding!

What do you mean about kidding? Surely everyone knows that a haggis has 3 legs, with them longer on the left hand side than the right, so they can run around mountains in a clockwise direction.

Thanks for the BR. When I first started living overseas my granny sent me a canned haggis (she must have stopped it running around)!!

I don't believe that your guts are really as grumpy as you make out - even with your bad back!! I like to look out for April Fool jokes in the newspapers, and on websites as well, there were several really good ones a couple of years ago.
