This story has always intrigued me. I remember watching the movie with Rosalind Russell, portraying Amelia. It depicted her and Fred Noonan crashing in to the ocean as they ran out of gas. I came to realize long ago that was all Hollywood fluff.
There were stories that they were captured by Japanese soldiers in WWII and killed. I always hoped this wasn't true.
Recent discoveries by an expedition group have found some evidence that they landed on a reef at Gardner Island. They plan to go back soon to look for skeletons and more evidence.
I have enclosed the link to a new story regarding what happened to them. I found it very interesting and very plausible. It seems, way back in 1937, our government was already in the habit of covering things up. Take a look at this story and share your opinions.
Maybe soon the mystery and Amelia Earhart can be put to rest.
