Goodmorning is this how you greet everyone

Till sometime ago I used to work and I had the habit of reaching my office about 20 mins earlier than the official work time of 9 to 5. I always after switching on my terminal would go, meet and greet my colleagues with a smile and a hearty Goodmorning, I was known as the Smiling face of my office. After the goodmorning I would chat up my friends and colleagues at the little Smoking designated area and then I would go off to my cubicle, login for the day and start with my work. So myLotters tell me how do you start your work day? do you start with a smile or are you grumpy and get perked up only after a cup of Coffee? Do you say hello, Hi or Goodmorning or do you just grunt a reply? Do you greet people by their names or you never bother? So how do you enter your office does everyone else greet you or do you greet people. Do share your experiences! Good day:)

Being a self-employed and since I am working at my home itself normally there is not specific work schedule for me. I wake up around 6 and my coffee will be ready. With a cup of coffee I will open my PC and log on to my mails and myLot. My clients normally reached after 9 or sometimes even around 8. If my client is a stranger I greet him with a smile followed by a 'please come' invitation and if it is my friend a 'hi' with smile will do. Since mine is not an English speaking country normally we don't greet with 'good morning' instead we say 'namaste' or 'namaskaram' which means welcome in our language. And when someone departs we have some gestures for saying 'bye' or 'ta ta' or 'see you' or words with similar meaning. To you, I think, what is important is to know that is there any practice of greeting everyone to which I say, yes. I do greet everyone and my most effective way is a welcome smile. :-) thank you Dea

I always try to have a smiling start to my day, that is when I wake up.If that part goes well, then the smile sticks to my lips naturally, lol. After that I can easily greet everyone I meet with a smile. But if I have a bad start to my day, probably due to a not-so-nice dream from which I woke up ,then I try to correct my mood by listening to a nice song or reading some great jokes as soon as I leave my bed.Yeah, more often then not that does it and once I feel good ,I can make others feel good ,too. There are very few days when I am depressed and on those days I might not smile or might not be the first one to greet because I am scared I'd say something I shouldn't or won't be myself and they would read it.So, fixing my mood works better for me than coffee, lol.

I have to say I am a grump that is why I get up and have coffee first. Nobody wants to see me without my coffee. I always say good morning when I first walk in the door. After about an hour I come back out of my office and everybody talks for a while after that I always have a smile on my face.

Good morning, deaxyza, or is it night time in there, LOL! I'm also like you. No matter how grumpy I am, I always pasted a smiling face for everyone. I also teach my girls the proper etiquette of saying good morning in greeting friends, teachers and even in answering the phone. I'm always gracious to greet anyone including their first name or a more respectful name like auntie or uncle. I refer to all my friend's parents as mommy or daddy too. :)

It depends.. sometimes we get all friendly and use first names. Otherwise, we may change it to "dude", "mate", "pal", etc. Or just a tacit form of acknowledgment without greeting words. ;-)

Hi Deaxyza! I miss you my friend! Sorry for the late reply really. And yes, I know my fault. (^^,LOL) Well for me it's more the quiet type. Especially when I just woke up. And contrary to you, I'm always almost running late, so I'm quite the bubbly person that gets everybodies good morning for being again in a hurry. So I just greet them back while brushing my hair. I admire you for being so friendly and smiling, and to greet everyone. I hope I could be like that. I tried sometimes, but it gets me in a bad mood if they snobed me. So Good day! Miss you my friend! Sorry if I wasn't around much. Take care always! (^^,)

Aphroditei hello dear I was out on vacation for the past eight days so I have not been on mylot at all but don't you worry I will bne replying all the questions that you put on board for the past few days....So I am back and here to stay. Being quiet is nice too you know, I find annoying and whiney people a turn off first thing in the morning. There are quite a lot of people busy, late, timid etc etc and hence can not say hello to everyone, it really does not matter. If I work with you I would come over and give a hug 'cos I would know you are in a hurry and not rude. Thanks for sharing :)
