Anyone have any ideas how to get rid of heartburn safely and effectively during pregnancy aside from Tums, Maalox, zantac? Like a natural remedy??

I'm sorry you have bad heartburn. The other day my throat felt like it was on fire. It was so bad I didn't know what to take or do. So I looked up some remedies on the internet. They say to drink milk. Don't eat two hours before you go to bed. Eat smaller amounts of food throughout the day. That's about it. Other then that, take some Tums.

In my experience it cures itself in about 9 months :) Good luck.

pretty much what has already been said, eat smaller amounts of food, eat more times a day, drink milk, take tums, and avoid laying down for about an hour after you eat, even a small snack

i lived by tums when i was pregnant... they are a god send, trust me. the best advice is eat smaller meals and do not eat for at least two hours before you lay down.

I agree with everyone else. Tums. Also try elevating your head when you do lay down. Someone told me a trick when I was pregnant for heartburn, and I swear it works. Lay only on your left side. It will help. They said it was because the ambilical cord is attached to the placenta on the left. When you are on your left side it isn't stretched out. Ok...I don't know if I believe that, because it still works even though I am not pregnant. When it is bad, and I am able to lay down, I lay on the left side and it isn't as bad, or eventually goes away. Best of luck. Have a happy pregnancy, hon.

I had LOTS of heartburn during pregnancy. I took so many bottles of Tums during those months that I was worried that the calcium would be too much for the baby. But he was perfectly healthy, and not nearly as big as I had feared.
