I have some experiences regarding this topic. I was once experienced of a hold-up by a two good looking guys with knives. We're only two passengers in the jeep aside from the two hold upper (me and my bf). We're riding a jeepney at around 12noon when two guys get my mobile pointing the knife to me and my bf's cell phone and his ring. How about you do you have some experiences of snatching or hold-ups? Hope you can share it here.

I'm probably the unluckiest person here. I've experienced having my jewelries snatched, three times and I've lost seven cellphones in five years. I guess I'm still lucky somehow because I've never been held up. Hope it doesn't happen to me, ever.

the night of december 18, 2001 was very unfortunate. after spending the day with my bestfriend at the mall (as i just arrived back in the philippines after 5 months in indonesia), we went separate ways at around 10:30pm.
it happened when i was waiting for a cab in a very crowded area along the highway near a traffic police outpost. an empty jeepney was coming in my direction so i stepped back a few meters then 5 guys singled me out in the crowd. two guys grabbed each side of me, my shoulder and my arm. and the fifth guy pointed a knife at me asking for my cellfone.
my immediate reaction is, "how dare you...". i shrieked and asked for help, but nobody did.
it was traumatic coz i couldn't sleep well for the next 3 months and i always cry whenever i remembered the incident. more than the cellfone, i lost my sense of security and peace of mind at that night. never again did i pass that road. it has become my most hated of all places.

yeah, my sister said, i'm still fortunate coz i wasn't hurt much... just bruises on my arms and shoulders. she also said, it was fortunate that i wasn't raped or kidnapped or something.
they were extremely worried though that i phoned in around 10pm while i was still at the mall to inform them to expect me home at 11pm. it was already almost 2 am when i arrived at the house...

you won't believe me but it happened to me three times already..yup! I lost 3 cellphones to snatchers and I guess more than the cellphone, I am more concerned of the traumatic effect it has on me. When I ride public jeepney (which I dreaded for quite a long time since I experineced that "slashing bag") I look at the passengers and see if there's a look of ahold upper or snatcher..I'm so concious that I hold on to my dear bag tightly.
I just hope our streets (manila) will be cleared of these kind of people..It's really scary.

yeah I agree with you. These experiences are very traumatic. I don't care how much they got or if they get my phone or money it's just I can't forget the traumatic experience. I always check the passengers' face everytime I ride PUJ. Maybe some of them are those people I don't want to encounter again (snatchers/ holdupers)

I almost experience being hold-up before when I was still working in Cebu.I was walking along the street near the mall when 2 persons approaching me and 1 person was following at my back. Then I had noticed that 1 guy on my front is signaling the guy at my back.I know that was a set up for hold up ,thus I run towards the opposite street then the guy at my back followed me.All of a sudden a jeepney is passing by and I stopped the jeepney and rode in it without knowing where would it be heading. Thanks God I am save by those hold uppers.

Good for you. At least you noticed it earlier before that happens. Well mine also happens in in cebu. That's why I really don't forget that place. My necklace was snatched too while riding a jeepney along J. Luna Avenue. And when I they held up it was near pier 4.
