I have always tried to be economical with my water. I don't wash clothes until I have a full wash and I don't wash the dishes until the dishwasher is full. I have two barrels under the drainpipes of my roof and these collect the rainwater when it rains. This water is used to water my garden in the Summer or to wash our cars.

Here is Australia we are in a 1000 year drought. a drought like none that we have had before. Everywhere you go there are water restrictions. The restrictions vary. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 + We are currently on stage 4 water restrictions. This means that we can water the garden w/ water. we can not wash the car (we can only use a little water to wash the windscreen. this restriction doesn't apply to commerical car washes where they use recycled water). We can not fill up pools, ponds, water features. i do all that i can to save water. i have a water saving shower head, a duel flush toilet. and a 4 star water and engery saving washing machine. i also save the bath water for my bubs, and water the garden with that. Water tanks are also becoming the normal. a lot of people also use the grey water from the washing machine and shower to water their garden. we don't have recycled drinking water yet, like in other countries, but that'll happen soon, and i don't mind if it does. if we all do our bit it will do us the world of good.

I am from a country town called toowoomba and we are currently under level 5 water restrictions. Its heart breaking as we cant even wash our own cars with a hose let alone a bucket full of water. we cant water our garden, hose down our porches...basically we can do anything! We try to save as much money as we can by 1. Washing our dishes by hand. 2. do our clothes washing in bulk 3. Have baths instead of showers (if you have a partner it can be fun to get in together! we have also replaced our taps in the house so it doesnt consume more water.
