Here in Philippines, there are so many tradition being practice every Holy week in different provinces. The most popular is mimicking Jesus Christ how he died in stake used for torturing. The actual nailing of both hands and feet of those fanatics has become an attraction thats why many foreigner and local tourist are visiting here to witness those activities. We also have what they call "Pinitensya" where adult man will going to have small cuts in their back then they will going to slap it by bamboo sticks tied to a rope which is about a meter while blood is gradually flowing from cuts. What about in your country, any traditions do in coming holly week?

We started out Holy week last Sunday with the blessing of the Palms. On Holy Thursday, we have the blessing of the oils at morning mass. In the evening, the Holy Sacrament will be moved from the tabernacle on the main altar to the altar of repose where it will stay until the Easter Vigil on Saturday night. On Good Friday, there will be Stations of the Cross and after that, confessions will be heard in preperation for Easter. Easter Saturday, a vigil mass will be held at midnight and a Paschal fire will be lit. After this the Blessed Sacrament will be taken from the altar of repose back to the tabernacle on the main altar. This signifies the Resurrection of Christ. Easter Sunday is a very joyous occasion because the time of fasting and abstinance is over and most people will go out for a big meal or have a family get together. I myself will have a family get together and we will celebrate Easter at home. Hope you have a wonderful Easter holiday.

Most of the people I know go to church.. perhaps it is for a sunrise service.. or just a regular morning service.. then most get together with family for a good meal.. and an easter egg hunt for the children.. And there are sometimes town, or church easter egg hunts for people to go to with their children if they want, which are on days around Easter.. There's also special church services on the sunday before Easter, for Palm Sunday.. and in the weekly services (usually four) of most churches previous to this is the observation or teaching called "Lent" which is a way of preparing our hearts.. repenting of any wrongdoings, and shortcomings.. humbling ourselves.. :))
