How to serve huge amounts of food?

I sometimes have a lot of people visiting my place for dinner or lunch. Along with them I too love rice. The problem is I don't know how to serve so much of rice nicely, I mean, I have a platter for the purpose which is huge. But after some time, the platter becomes empty and I have to again fill it up with rice. It would have been very convenient if I could just put the aluminiun tray full of rice on the table, so that I wouldn't have to watch out for the rice and fill up the tray every time. Does it look good if I use the aluminium tray?
Please suggest.
Thanks in advance.

Instead of the aluminum tray or the platter get two good sized bowls that are identical. When one bowl gets empty put the next one down and remove the empty one. Wash it out and fill it up with rice, replace it when the other bowl gets empty. This way the table looks always pretty and you get the illusion of endless rice bowls. It would work with two platters as well.
