Danish scientists have successfully converted type A, B, and AB blood into type O. The team sifted through 2500 bacteria and fungi before identifying two effective enzymes to complete the process.
In an hour the two enzymes remove all sugar molecules from the surface of the RGC after which they can be easily washed away.
The history behind antigen stripping dates back to 1980 by Jack Goldstein. He discovered an enzyme in coffee beans that removes B antigens rom RGCs.
Cool eh?
