What was your worst birthday ever?

Today was my husband's birthday and we were so happy to find that I did not have to work today. All we had to do was fax something for our special needs son and then we were going to walk around the mall and spend the afternoon together with our son only I could not find the fax number...I finally found a number but upon arriving at the mall with this number and placing the fax it came up as disconnected! My husband came back home to look for it and I stayed at the mall because this would be easier for my son. My husband came back to the mall unable to find the proper number.
We were discouraged at this and the afternoon was ruined as my husband took nearly an hour looking for this number and I had to keep my son occupied at the mall all of that time!
We sat in the food court talking for a few minutes and then walked down the mall trying to decide how we could salvage the day and the birthday...I decided to take my husband to the Mandarin( a chinese buffet) and he was happy about this so we drove there and sat in the car for a few minutes talking while we waited for them to open for their dinner buffet. After about ten minutes or so my husband went to see if they were open yet and I stayed in the car with our son. When my husband came back to the car he noticed it was leaking gas onto the parking lot.
He still wanted to eat at the restaurant so we went in but there wasn't much conversation as we both sat thinking about the car and the gas leaking from it! We ate less than usual at the buffet and rushed out of there to go to our mechanic who thankfully works out of his own home.
To make a long story short it has ended up being a very long and exspensive day for us!
The car needs a brand new gas tank and new lines as well. Because of Easter the repairs will take a week to do and we can not go without a car so have had to rent a car for a week. We are expecting around $1000 repairs and car rental included when all is said and done....
Have you ever had an aweful day like this or worse on your birthday?
A close second to this one for my husband was the year his Papa died and we were in the Funeral Home on his birthday!
He still says today was his worst birthday ever!

My worst birthday was my 19th. I was broke, just got laid off from my job and I was almost 1000 miles from my family.
I woke up, said hi to my roommates and no one remembered anything (even after I reminded them a few times in the days leading up to it), so I took my dog for a long walk. About 2 hours later, we were coming back along the highway when my one roommate drove up behind me, pulled over and asked what why I'd been gone so long. I just shrugged and took her up on the offer for a ride home. We got home and I went and put my dog in her run, and sat outside talking to her for a bit. My other roommate came out and asked to borrow a smoke, so I gave him one and he smoked it while he chatted.
Still no word.
I walked a block over to where my friend and my boyfriend lived, and they weren't there, so I had coffee with my boyfriend's mom and told her my dilemma. She wished me a happy birthday, gave me $20 in case I decided to go out that night and I headed home where still no one clued in.
I made dinner for myself, ate it outside, talked to my dog for a bit until my one roommate told me the phone was for me. It was my mom and my first unsolicited happy birthday message. I talked to her for a bit, cried and then we said our goodbyes and I got off the phone.
My roommate decides at that exact moment to ask whether I can pay rent, because she can't afford to have me there if I can't. She knows I can't, and that the job I've been guaranteed won't pay me until after rent is due. We get into an argument and she tells me I can move out.. so I did.
I packed up all my things all night on my 19th birthday, called my friend (the one that wasn't home) and asked if she could drive my dog, me and my stuff 3 hours away the next day so I can stay with a family friend until my parents can come get me. It wasn't until the next morning that they clued in to why I'd been so quiet the day before.. they apologized, but the damage was done.
It was awful.

I'm sorry you had such a terrible day heavenschild, when you were anticipating enjoying the celebration of your husband's birthday as a family.
My worst birthday ever has to be my nineteenth, as my mom passed away the day before, after a long battle with cancer. It was very hard to find anything to celebrate on that birthday (as far as I was concerned, there was nothing to celebrate), as I'd been her sole caregiver for at least a couple of years, and we'd grown especially close. This was back in the days (the 70's) when Drs. still made house calls, and there wasn't any type of at home nursing care available to families in such situations, unless they could afford a private nurse. On my actual birthday, we were over at my aunt's (my mom's sister's), and she somehow remembered my birthday. She didn't know what to do, but sent my uncle out to buy a birthday cake for dessert, as she felt so bad that this was going on at the time of my birthday. There were no candles (I didn't want any) on the cake, and no singing. The whole situation just made everyone feel worse, and we ended up crying even more, instead of it being a happy occasion.

Last year birtday was my worst birthday ever.I just celebrated my cake date on 31st march and the last memories flashed into mymind and i hv even posted a topic here in mylot.
I left my office on 30th march last year quite early to make some arrangements for next day celebration.I got into a crowded bus to reach early and to my suprise i got a seat but an elderly women requested that she cannot stand so i gave the seat for her and passed the tickets of other passengers. When i got down from the bus in the last stopping and it was the terminus too i found my handbag was seem to be opened. When i tried to close it i found my purse was missing.I went into the bus to search for my purse but it wasnot there and i started tensed. Then i immediately called up office and enquired with my collegues whether i had left it over in my table. But they said there is nothing in my table and i was so tensed and reached home and started crying as i had my office cupboard key, some hot cash and my card along with my brothers Atm card.I foolishly wrote the pin number of my brothers card in a paper with full details. It really made me worried as someone who had stolen it can withdraw the amount from Atm.My father consoled me and called up the customer service of the bank to deactivate the card as it was stolen.
My whole family convinced me not to worry bcoz teh next day is my birthday and i need to celebrate it with joy.But i found very guilty as i lost my office key which was given as my responsibility. The next day i reached office and everyone was shocked to hear this.but they all stood by me and made me feel better.Only in the afternoon i could relax and celebrate the birthday with cake and wishes from them.

My purse was stolen from my husbands car last summer while I dropped off some groceries for a friend and before I missed it gone the credit cards had been used. I am still trying to clear things up from this and lost $100 cash out of the deal as well. It is very violating and aweful! I am sorry it happened on your birthday! Hope this year brings you a better happier birthday!!
Thanks for sharing your story! :)
