So I made a mistake

My poor husband again. He got home from work today, changed from his uniform into civilian clothes and went to get some gas for the lawn mower. Before leaving, he asked me to put his desert boots in the washing machine. It was the least I could do, so I promptly picked them up and placed them in the machine. The problem was, I didn't put soap in, or turn the darn machine on! It seems that had he drilled a hole into my head, he could have gotten all of the gas he needed with that huge brain fart I had!! I just don't know where my mind was that I would walk in there and not finish the job!! I did not realize my mistake until I went back in there to get them out of the washer to sit them on the rack to dry. I quickly turned the machine on and put the soap in, then what did I do? I walked out, forgetting to close the lid, which meant they still didn't get washed right away! Later, while watching Dancing With The Stars, he asked me about them and I assured him that I had washed them. So I got up and went back to the laundry room and just busted out laughing. What else could I do? I had to tell him of my 2 mistakes. He laughed and said he didn't marry me for my brains, which is a good thing, because he would be so disappointed if he had! lol Well, his boots are now on the drying rack and thankfully, he had a spare pair to wear tomorrow! He has promised that the next time he asks me to do this, he will be exact with his request and say, put in soap, turn on the water and close the lid. Why leave anything to chance? lol

There are times when we just simply get so absent-minded. I really don't know why. Maybe some psychologist or psychiatrist can spell this out for us. My problem is, aside from being absent-minded sometimes, I am very forgetful...I have always been since I was a child. Yet, it may sound ironic that I have a keen memory on things.

Absent-mindedness, yes, I have been guilty of that, but as I said above, waiting for deployment day makes things worse. It just changes perspective on everything.
