Are you afraid to/of change?

Do you welcome change? Say for example you've had this sofa or car a long time and you really love it. If someone offered you the opportunity of something different; would you accept it? What is your reasoning behind this? For me, I sit on the border with this. There are some things such as; houses, clothes (some) and others that I would change; but then again; I would love to keep; books, friends and my hair. Oh well! We can't not change anything! Looking forward to all your responses!

I do enjoy some changes such as getting new cell phones and iPods but I'm afraid of other types of changes such as moving and changing jobs.

Well, basically change is really a very wide term. Either you change for a better or worse, change from physical look, change in emotional aspects and change to be mature. There are many things to consider for a change. Lately, There is a big change happened in my life, change of work environment, change to a new work and change of a new boss and a new colleauges. It may be hard at first especially if you will think that you will leave your old circle of friends and your life and environment as well. But I try to accept things positively. It may be hard at first, but at least now I am learning yo accept. Since acceptance is the most important thing to consider about changing and to adjust to your new life.. Actually, I am now in total change about everything in terms of my work. A new workstation, new boss, new teammates and defintely a new work and position and trying to learn little by little but you know what, I just feel the excitement of being in change, new things to learn, new challenges and new phase of my life. It makes something different from before. SO dont be afraid. just enjoy the momentum of being in- change.

Yes, kyittyzeh. I half agree with you. Change is a very widely used term; but some people may not enjoy change when it comes upon them; they only later might learn to accept it. Not all people try to accept things positively and I guess most people should trying to be. Some things to learn might take a while; as you're saying about your new environment; but I guees you eventually get used to it and thoroughly accept it when you have to. Well, good luck with it all and thanks for your story.

I like changes sometime, but not all the time. I don't like to change things which are emotionaly attached with me. It may be my car or a dress or even a couch. But sometime with some things we get emotional and I hate to change such things. Otherwise I always welcome changes for good.

it depends on what kind of things i will change. i like to change the things like clothes, diet because i will get bored if i don't change them for a period of time. but other changes may make me unhappy. now i have just changed my job though it's better than the former one, i'm not used to it at present. so i think i'd better not have this change.

I believe noboday likes the life which is never changed. This kind of love is boring and pale. But we may love a piece of clothes or furniture which we can keep for the whole life. I thik they are totally two different things. Therefore, we should not be afraid to/of change. But we can keep the things which are worth for cherishing forever.

It depends of what we are talking about! Sofas, cars, house... of course if i get satisfied with the new changes! But other things that aren't material, i think we all like to keep them!

I can adapt quite easy to change. But like you their are certain things I just do not want to change. My dining room table and sideboard are one of things I will always keep. There are also certain little ornaments given to me by both of my late grandmothers, which I will never let go. Other things I change quite easily.

when you live in fear you don't grow. and even something as simple as your clothes or a couch can keep you stuck. everything changes and grows. you should welcome change. people get stuck in comfort, when you move from that comfort zone, things open up to you like you would have never known. Me afraid of change?? not one bit. i welcome all new things

For me personally i need change. If things stay the same for a certain period of time or longer, i go nuts, i can't handle it, i mean maybe i don't go nutz, but i start getting really nervous and panicky, it's like I'm trapped or something. I just can't take it. So even if it's something small like getting a haircut or changing the color of it, moving the furniture around in the house, getting something new, anything, i feel so much better. I don't feel the need to change my friends and what not, but little things around me, need to be changed. As for my home, if i lived somewhere that i loved, i would be fine staying there forever. There was one place i lived that i would have loved to be there forever, but sometimes things don't work out that way, so now i'm looking for a new place, because where i am right now is getting to me. I'm all for change!

things change sometimes. and i would change some of my belongings . like you mentioned. clothes and houses and etc. but something would reamin certainly unchanged. such as friends and book s and my cds. they are my everlasting memroy. i love them. how can i make them redundant and get new ones? wouldn't that be too ridiculous?

I cower pitifully when I am faced with a challenge that involves change. Maybe it's the Taurus in me. I learned long ago that sometimes you can't prevent change but that doesn't mean that I have to like it. It all works out for the best in the long run sometimes though.

Inherently, I am very afraid of change. The fear of the unknown causes a great deal of anxiety for me. However, having no change is boring so whenever I can change anything I do as I feel that change is mostly for the better. Now, I am leaving a job I really don't like and will have to find a new one. That scares me, but the prospect of having a job I like more and making more money is my motivation for changing rather than opting for staying in a job that pays me little money and that I really don't like.

Though I am fond of change, as you rightly put it, I am wary of changing all of a sudden. I feel that it is because of a combination of various factors such as superstition, emotional attachment and complacency. The fear of something untoward would descend on me if I go off the beaten track, is the main reason for not going for a change. Somtimes, due to situations and compulsions, I have reluctantly gone for the change and have remained tense for a couple of days expecting something really bad to happen. Fortunately, all such occasions have had only normal outcomes ! Still, I dare say that I am not fully prepared to go for a change all of a sudden. I always believe in the saying, "Old Devil is better than the new Angel !"

I'd be more inclined to have that changes since now I'm finding my life is too boring and need some spice up whatever it is. I'm not that good when dealing with sudden chages but I can still try.

Change for me is the law of life. We always say that it's not easy to change but we still deal with it in the end. For me there are times that I cannot easily cope up with the changes that I have been encountering. Who wants to change a routinary job you've been doing and enjoying everyday? Yes, it isn't easy. But we need to go with it to improve, to grow, to learn... There are also changes that I love to deal with. Life without change is stagnant. To adapt change, I just take my steps one-by-one with the rule "first things first." When all is set and when I get used to it again then that's it.

i have to say i'm sometimes afraid of changes.I like the way things are.Not always, but most of the times.Like when two friends of mine moved to the states for a couple of years.I just got to know them so well and when they were around i felt so good. Then they left.I got over it but as soon as i heard they were leaving within half a year that half year i was counting. My gosh they are leaving within a couple of months. With other things i'm like yeah i want a change i will be afraid of it but i want it.Like my job it's a good job but not for like the rest of my life.So it's kinda different depends on what sort of changes.

i welcome changes....as they say..CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT THING IN THIS WORLD.. But as much as possible i try to live in my comfort zone..with the things i'm used to doing and seeing..but i guess we can never resist changes so we tend to accept them as they come.. the important thing is that we grow with these changes around us..

I'm not afraid of changes but it's just a natural thing for us to be nervous if we're in a place not familiar to us. Yes, i still keep things that i love and those that have sentimental value to me. I tried cutting my hair that short but after that i never did it again. We even change our sofa and have it re-arrange evry week.
