I was really surprised to find MYSELF when I "Googled" a question. It brought me to (amongst others) myLot where I had used the phrase in a response. !!! So then I googled my complete ID for myLot and sure enough there I was in myLot. I had been under the impression that my ID (whiteheather39) was only available through myLot. Did you know your myLot ID was known internet wide?

when I saw the heading for this discussion guess what? Ok I had to go take a look to see if weemam was there too and there were so many pages I couldn't believe it , I used to write on ciao and a lot of my discussions were there too , loads I had quite forgotten all about , so its your fault I haven't done my quota of responses today lol , good discussion pal thanks xx

I used to write on Ciao as well, but they changed the rules so often, and also the last three times I tried to add new discussions, they didn't even bother putting in the new topics that I asked for, I still do some survies on Ciao though, much more profitable than the discussions there.

I felt a bit shocked when I read this heather and I decided to try it for myself (not that I didn't believe you!) and was surperised when it also threw up a link to my sons supposedly 'safe' forum! I was like you I thought these were secure sites - shows how wrong you can be and is also a bit worrying! Thanks for pointing this out! x

Thanks mummymo what a shock to bring up your son. I can't imagine him using your ID. I found it not by using my ID but a PHRASE I had used in a response. It is scary to think you san be identified on the internet by something you innocently wrote in a response...

It's amazing the things you can find out about someone just by doing a little searching. It is pretty scary when you really think about it. If someone was looking to harm us all they have to do is seek and they will find. I use the same screen name everywhere so I guess that makes me a really easy target...???

thats true what you say. but its not only from mylot, its from every community/forum you are participating. thats how these free forums and paying forum work. you know, nothing is a secret internet wide. thats why i am careful what i post in public about me.
