After all, Buddha talks about "something unborn,.... upon which the born depends

Hello From the "Udana" Buddha speaks thus:"There is something unborn, something uncreated and unformed. If this didn't exist, the escape from the world of the born, the possessing of origine, the created and the formed, would not be possible." The wisdom of the Buddha for 365 days (I have made my own translation here, so it is perhaps somewhat incorrect) This is good enough for me as The Cause of Causes. For me God is unborn, uncreated and unformed, from my perspective. He, or IT just "IS". As a Bahai I like the description: It is the Selfsubsisting. It doesn't need to be born, be formed and created. When Buddha says there is "no God,..." no this or that.." I believe he might refer to the images people had at the time of His appearence, and that it needed to be corrected, radically. It, the concept of God might have consisted of all too anthropomorph pictures or even sculptural figures. Christianity is no exception, there is the crusifix even today. They even mean to say "God has become flesh" Maybe it was the same when Buddha came and He could have referred to such images. What do you think about .."Something unborn... exist(s)" Greetings Lailamaria

I believe this something unborn is the potential in man to achieve enlightenment. The unborn potential that is in every human, it is uncreated and unformed and through experience and seeking out knowledge it is gradually "born" and and formed. This is just my interpratation and I am not saying that I know everything. You are correct in a way because god lies within you and the potential to know him within yourself is what is unborn, so god is what is unborn and you are on the right track, just remember to look within for him. Try Kriya yoga for some techiques to see what I mean.

I see. Yes it is often heard that God, the "Unborn" in this case, is within you. I'd say that He has a postbox within you and that He from His inscrutable whereabouts sends letters there, that you may know His existens and intentions. Only, there has to be a Messenger too,a postman, who tells you about that. Because I don't believe we can hear the "Unborn" if he doesn't come along too. But, in short: I believe this "Unborn Being" is independent of you, not living in you, only revealing Himself in your heart through a Messenger. A Christ, a Buddha, a Moses or, for this age Bahaullah (1817-1892 Founder of the Bahai Faith, www.Bahai.org) I hope you will write gain Lailamaria

I too am a baha'i. I love the words of Buddha. It is sad that His beautiful words have been so greatly misunderstood, as it is with all of the manifestations.
