I just installed Rockbox, a new OS for my 5g 30gb Ipod Video. It's pretty sweet - you can have a background image with it, custom eqs, and tons of games! If you're tech savvy and have an ipod, check it out. http://www.rockbox.org I installed it in like 5 minutes. The good part is it can dual boot and you still have Apple's firmware safely tucked away.

I think it is really important to say that rockbox is not only for Ipod users, It supports a lot of other players. I've installed it in my Iaudio and I worked great, plus it's really recommended to Iaudio users because they lack simple controls such as managing a playlist (while playing songs) and searching through a database.. or even having a database, a must have for Iaudio owners.

Yep, there is even another firmware out there, which is infact an OS for a computer. It is called linux. Check it out www.ipodlinux.org And btw, did you get that link from a discussion I made? If you did, please post something there. Thanks, -Ste3le.

Wow. I didn't know you could do that to your iPod. I can't wait to give it a try myself :) Thanks for the link :)

I own a 5g 30gb as well. Bored with the plain background and lack of games to play. Thank you for sharing.
