On March 9, 2007 the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit found that the Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms for individual citizens.
This case was in reponse to the D.C. gun ban. The court found that the District of Columbia had no constitutional right to prevent gun ownership by honest, sane, qualified citizens. The url below contains more details.

Having read the appropiate Federalist papers which apply to the second admendment to the constitution, I totally agree with this court ruling that the second admendment means what it says.
Furthermore, there are still plenty of orginal writings by the founding fathers explaining it.
There is no question by any honest objective person who has done a minimum of research that the 2d admendment to the constitution means exactly what this court said.
My question to you is, "Was this a correct ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit?"
Note, I did not say do you think guns should be banned. That is not the same thing. The law is about what is written so we can be governed by laws, not the whims of individuals.
"Given the laws and the constitution as they are written, not as you wish they were, was this court ruling correct?"
Those who want guns banned from private ownership should have the 2d admendment repealed. It is as simple as that.
I'll repeat the question.
"Was this a correct ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit?"

Yes, I believe that the court did the right thing. They based their ruling on the constitution not local law or viewpoints.

Yes, it amazes me how many people today do not understand the necessity of respecting the rule of law. I have known otherwise highly intelligent people who think the constitution should be ignored when they disagree with it.

Hi red, I believe the ruling was correct putting emotion, sentamentalism and my personal beliefs aside. As for arguing the outdatedness of the interpretation of this law, with the serious consequences afflicted onto innocent citizens by the "not so self-controlled reckless" individuals that manipulate this law that was origionally designed to "protect" society from "attack", of one kind or another, I believe that there are substancial debating points! Have a great day mate!

Yes, the debating of the interpretation of the law is something that was not taught in school to me as it actually happens.
In classes on government we are taught that highly educated, logical persons, trained in the law argue with logic for the good of society.
Instead, spoiled emotional adult children who can not get their way through the legislative process pervert our courts to achieve that which they otherwise can not obtain.
It is sad and will destroy the country if we can not put a stop to it.

If only electing a new government would fix it, it would be easy. However I feel they are all tarnished with a similar brush and the rulings would be the same, saddly, just dressed up differently!
