Children love to help in the kitchen when they are toddlers and it is a wonderful time to teach them the wonderful skill of cooking. They love to be bragged on when they help make food to eat and they are just plain wonderful teachable moments in the kitchen with their mothers. This is an easy recipe that kids can help make. They love to eat the food that they help to prepare also. So it is a great way to introduce healthy food to them. Cheese Puffs Use your fingers to mix the following: 1 cup heaping full of grated cheese ( use either swiss or cheddar) 1/2 cup all purpose flour 2 Tablespoons butter or margarine enough water to make a stiff dough. Roll dough into small 2/4 inch balls. Place balls on greased cookie sheet and bake in oven at 400 until brown. This usually takes about 12 minutes depending on your oven. The kids will take delight in the fact that they made them and they will have a nutritious snack. Enjoy your time with your children

Its funny cause my kids werent too keen on being in the kitchen when they were tots but over the past 4 or 5 yrs they've really gotten into the whole cooking thing (more so my daughter actually..she LOVES to cook, its like art to her)..Of course they've also been using the stovetop and oven for a couple yrs now which makes it more fun for them ;-)

When I first got online, I found hillbilly housewife alot because I was just thrilled to find a site that had the same interests as mine. I had forgotten about it though. I had not visited it for a few years. Thanks for reminding me, I will have to check them out again when I get time.

Thanks for this! With the Easter holidays starting tomorrow afternoon I'm going to need lots of this kind of tin to keep my boys entertained!

Can't wait to try these. Now all I need is some grandchildren to make these for. In the meantime, I guess my husband will be the one to enjoy them.

Great recipe villageanne. We use same ingredients to make "cheese Namakpare`",but deep fry it and so is tasty but very oily. Your recipe doesn't require additional oil as it is baked.Indeed a great lass fattenning idea. Thanks.:-)

Wow thanks villageanne I appreciate the recipes you post on this site they are always good. And I love this recipe I get my little 5 year old sister twice a week to help give my mother a break kand this is something we can make together and she will love it. She also loves cheese puffs. And it will get her away from the t.v. for awhile. I think we will try to make these in a gallon size storage bag though for less mess but then again getting ooey gooey sticky is half the fun of it. I think I will try it tonight she is coming over in a few moments ans she loves helping me do stuff so it will be a treat for her. And I love that it is easy and simple.. the the greatest thanks.

I like the cheese puffs and am glad to find a better recipe to treat me and my kids. The puffed air stuff that is mostly fake stuff and sticks to the teeth is better replaced with this recipe. Thanks much for sharing this one.

Thanks for sharing with me. I'll have to try these with my daughter when I have a few minutes. Maybe this summer when school is out. :)
