Cure for Spring Time Allergies

The pollen is flying here in Arkansas like snowflakes! My girls have stuffy noses almost every single day. After working for an ENT doctor, I know that nasal sprays used for long periods of time, simply aren't good for you, regardless of what the televisions ads say! A friend gave me this recommendation and I went down to Walgreens and picked up a package and it really works! So before you go pick up one of those high priced inhalers filled with mysterious chemicals, pick up a package of Altoids Peppermints! Chew a couple of them every 4-6 hours. They cleared up our stuffy noses immediately!

Wow that is a great idea- I often chew on peppermint candy or even cough drops- Both of these seem to unclog my nose so I can breathe or at least blow the crud out. I have terrible allergies and sinus problems- Year round! I swear by Advil Cold and Sinus- I should be their poster girl! But for stuffy noses I do the peppermint thing!

My husband is the same way. He takes Claritin year round and has to be careful or he gets bronchitis.

This is a good used of mint plants. A tea would work too. Also eating honey from the area of allergies could help your body to fight off the problem with the pollen. A good plan for relieving the stuffiness and sneezing. Thanks for sharing this one.

You are quite welcome. I love hot peppermint tea. Especially when I'm sick. Last winter when I had the flu, this is all that would stay down for several days. Of course, then I was tired of it and haven't made it for awhile.

I cant take altoids peppermints. I start sneezing then my mouth begins to swell. I wish I could, I love the boxes that they come in for crafts. LOL Thanks for the advice. We use local honey too. The bees eat the same thing that we are allergic to and the honey helps to build up a resistace of those things. Must be local honey though

yes, I have heard that. I have what my kids call "Sneezing fits". Sometimes I sneeze 15-20 times in a row before I can quit. My husband and daughters will usually start to count at about 5 sneezes. Then it makes me laugh. Sometimes the laughing will make the sneezes stop.

I also tend to get hay fever and I really hate it. I sneeze so much I feel like my brains will come out plus a runny nose doesn't look good on a grown up. I use this medicines that my mom recommends though I don't use inhalers. I don't like stuffing things in my nose. I don't think Altoids Peppermints are available here but I'll look it up the next time my nose is running. ;)

Where are you natalie? Altoids are usually in the grocery and department stores on the shelves by the checkout stands with the gum and lifesavers. Although, I did notice that Target had started carrying multi-packs of them with their gum back on the candy aisles.
