End of mother earth , true or not?

I just forgot the link but i read something that in the year 2018, a meteor will hit our planet and cause a catastrophic damage. It says that the size of the meteor is like the size of a football field, which means it will end every living thing on this planet once it collide. How accurate is this?

I never read that one, but several years ago there was this site I found by chance, talking about doomsday in 2012 where the moon (or is it meteor) will collide with earth. There are many other predictions like these but I wouldn't worry about it. Doomsday will happen anyway, if not meteor then it will be nuclear war or biochemical substance. I think you can find out how accurate it is by visiting astronomy sites, if this is really going to happen, someone would've mentioned the possibility and others would've presented their arguments.

Yeah, I agree with you. Doomsday will really come but we just dont know when. I read this article in yahoo. pls read my comments on others who has responded. i beileve as of this time, arguments and actions are being done while we are awake and asleep.

i dont think that is true. none can predict if the life on the planet will die or will survive. and if the meteor is big like a football field in contact with atmosphere remain...maybe like a small car. but good enough to destroy everything in small areas.(200-300km like a 1-2 millions city population)

you have a point my friend. Meteors rotating on our solar system comes once in a million year or less, like the halleys comet.It circles around our galaxy and we are lucky if we see it during our time or generation. But what i read said that these meteor is as big as a football field, and that's not the end of it. It comes with debris and other space dust that is why if it collides with the earth the meteor with the size of a football field will create a very big damage because of the impact and the small debris let's say it like a size of a car, It would also create damage around the world. what do you think. Its not only the size we worry, its the deep impact that will annihilate evrything.
