Safely Remove Splinters

Removing splinters from a child's finger or foot is one of the hardest things to do, because they don't want to sit still to allow you to use a needle or tweezers.
Mine always feared that it would hurt, and would jerk away, sometimes causing me to stick them with the needles, or drive the splinter further into the skin.
I wish I'd known this little trick when they were young, but it certainly works now.
Drop a bit of Elmer's white glue on the splinter, coating all around the skin. Allow it to dry thoroughly and then simply peel the glue away. The splinter will adhere to the glue, and will slide out painlessly.

Good idea. Thanks. My step son is a real sook when it comes to splinters, so maybe this will work with him.
My daughter just takes her own splinters out.

My girls will get a needle and get their own out. My son comes in and says Mom, help, it hurts!

wow That sounds so simple wonder why I never heard of that when my kids were little. LOL I can see how that would work. I had a nephew and he would not let anyone else take a splinter out of him except me. They had to call me and I would go take it out.

We had hardwood floors in our old house. My daughter slid one day, and there was a piece of the flooring next to her closet that really neeed to be replaced, but we couldn't afford to do it. She got a splinter about 2 inches long in the bottom of her foot. I had to dig it out with a needle. She just cried, and she was 14 years old!

I've used this while teaching Sunday School, with my two and three year olds. They get a kick out of putting glue on their fingers and watching it dry. It makes them forget all about the splinter.
