tv time

How much time do you let your kids watch tv? For my case, I just let them watch as long as they are attentive because it's the only time I can do my chores but once they lose their interest, I close the tv and read a book to them or let them play or do something.
Do you agree that there should be a limit to how long they should watch tv or use the computer?

I usually limit my kid 's watching tv time to 1 hours one day on weekday.But his father usually let him to watch some cartoons.
I think let kids to read or play is better than let them sit before the tv all day.Too much tv times can hurt the health and draw their attention from their study.

My son does not watch any TV. But then he is only 11 months old. I will keep it that way for as long as possible so he will find other interests and learn to use his imagination. TV is not all bad and I'm sure he will watch some, but it is not a way of life for us like it is for some.

I only let my children watch the TV if I want to get on with something in the house and need them out of the way, or they are fighting with each other and I want them to calm down a bit.
Usually they watch about 2 hours on the TV a week at my house (this is videos of DVD's as I don't have a TV signal). I don't mind them having much longer playing games on the computer as they are only 2 and 5 and all the games I have for them are educational.
At the weekends when they are at their dads they are allowed to watch TV all the time and usually it is cartoons that I think are too violent for children. I don't think it is good to have this sort of thing in the background allthe time as they pick up bad habits from it.
