Ironing advice for table linen please!

April 3, 2007 3:24pm CST
I have been put in charge of laundering and ironing some table linen. You know the professional looking white table cloths and napkins. Not too many - 13 people were at the dinner and I would like to give it ago myself. Do you have any advice for me? Should I buy spray starch? Should I iron when the linen is still slightly damp? Thank you for any advice.

Oh, yes! Iron when linen is still slightly damp. Even then, some wrinkles may persist. Use plain water in a spray bottle for the stubborn ones. I only starch clothes because they need to stand up to lots of moving and crumpling. Make sure your iron plate (the part that gets hot & actually touches the cloth) is clean, too. Ironing linens is very meditative -- have fun!

I find that ironing when it is slightly damp works best. It is softer and, the wrinkles come out easier.
