About three weeks ago we called the repair people to come and get our riding lawnmower because it wouldn't start. They had the thing for a week, charged us about $300 to "charge the battery, change the spark plugs and the oil." (They did not call me with an estimate first.) So, they brought it back and we tried to start it this week end to mow the lawn. Guess what! I called them again and they came and picked it up again. I get so tired of paying through the nose for something to be done and it isn't done!!!! Gr.r.r.r #@$$#@**!

If it wasn't fixed hte first time you darn sure shouldn't have to pay for it to be fixed this time. They changed the spark plugs and oil and charged the battery. Did they even bother to check if it worked properly when they brought it back to you? Sometimes I think customer service has gone to pot!

They picked it back up, didn't call me again for an estimate and put in a new starter. They didn't charge for labor, however, and so far it is working ok. Thanks.

That is so sad, but I fully understand where you are coming from. It seems that these days, people are not skilled and do not care about their jobs much. All they want is the money. Hope by now, it is worked out sugar. ++ rating for you again, as always love your posts and rate them all +.

Sometimes things happen that way and we have the right to get angry over such issues after all we paid a lot to them for the repair and it not appreciated when it breaks down after few days. Sometimes it happens to be our luck also but not always, anyway sorry to hear your situation anyway stay calm and speak out what you feel and lets hope you settle with that well. Good luck in the future.

I did settle down after a while. Getting angry didn't make it start! Thanks for your reply.

I don't think I would call the same company to fix it again. Fist thing you should always do, whether it is a vehicle or a lawnmower, check the connections to the battery and the spark plugs. And anytime you have someone work on a vehicle or lawn mower, you should tell them that you need an estimate before they start working on your item. If they don't give you an estimate, how can you decide if you want the work done. We are talking about paying $50-100 to find out what is wrong with it, versus $300 for something you can easily do yourself. I would visit the manufactures website to see if they can give you more insight as to why you are having problems with your lawn mower. Also, you may want to find an authorized dealer to handle repair issues, unless you just got screwed over by them...

I did ask for an estimate and it was the authorized dealer...so much for trying to do it the right way!

You're right about that! I'd kick it, but would probably break my toe!
