Your Thoughts Regarding Suicide Bombings - Could You Ever Do Such A Thing?

April 3, 2007 9:42pm CST
POLICE raided a religious school in remote western Afghanistan and arrested 22 people, an official said Tuesday, alleging the school was involved in organising Taliban suicide attacks. Afghan police acting on a tip-off raided the school late Monday in the western province of Farah - which last month saw several suicide blasts - provincial police chief Sayyed Agha Saqib said. The school in the Bala Buluk district was being used as a “terrorist centre” and was supported by Pakistani nationals and Arabs, he said. My questions are these: Is there any thing in this world, that you believe in so strongly, that you would make you do such a thing? Or do you believe these suicide bombers are just totally brainwashed? And if commiting a suicide bombing is so noble, then how come the instructors never kill themselves? I'm not sure what you can do about a person who is willing to strap a bomb on their body and kill themselves and everyone around them. What do you think? Lloyd

I think that those terrorists recruit people which fit a certain criteria. 1) Pick someone who is really poor and who feel his life is worthless. 2) Brainwash him into believing that America is responsible for his condition. 3) Tell him that his life has a purpose and that Allah has choosen him to fight the big bad evil America. 4) Tell him that Allah will reward him for dying for his country by giving him a place in paradise. Talking about dying for your country... What do you think those US soldiers in Irak are doing? In World War Two... The british flew bombing missions around the clock with 70 per cent casualties. But nobody said "No... I don't won't to die." Every soldier has to be prepare to die for his country. That is his job. Terrorists are just soldiers. It is their tactics of killing innocent civilians which is reprehensible. They are not fighting by the rules of war. And that makes them murderers. Not soldiers.

Thanks for such a detailed explanation. I agree with everything you said. It's such a shame that our world has evolved in such a negative way. Lloyd

You cannot have a war without civilian casualties. Those people are killed by accidents. Our soldiers don't go out of their way to find some civilians to murder. The problem of today is that people don't have any concept of what a war is like. It is a totally crazy idea that you can go to war with a country without killing civilians. Particulary when you are searching for an ennemy hiding cowardly behind the skirt of women and children. I think people need to start watching the old movies of world war two to get a reality check. Do you think Hitler cared about civilians when he bombed London. Or the English and Americans for that matter when they bombed Germany. This new concept of war without civilian casualties is pure fantasy. First you should ask those terrorists why they don't care about putting their women and children at risk by hiding behind them.

Terrorists do aim for civilians I agree with Suitsme. Terrorists are called terrorists because they go out of their way to illicit terror. The way to illicit terror is to strap a bomb to yourself and blow up a public bus with ordinary everyday people on board. Or fly planes into buildings full of office people. It is not only disgusting and reprehensible, it is cowardly. Yes cowardly! They are picking on people who can not defend themselves. Everyday people like youand me going about our everyday lives not ready for a battle. Not looking for a battle, certainly not trained for a battle. These people kill indiscriminantly. Soldiers are trained to seek out the terrorists or enemy soldiers. Like it or not. Innocent civilians do loose their lives and as sad as it is it is not avoidable. Accidents happen and the enemy will use them as shields. Soldiers do not search out little kids and blow them up with bombs. Soldiers do not search out civilians to kill. That is what makes them soldiers and not terrorits. I think it is ignorant as anything to suggest they are one in the same.

I don't think I'd ever be able to do that unless I was in some sort of crazy hypnotic trance. I would never be able to do it out of my own initiative and think that in a way people that do it were somehow brainwashed. You never see the people telling them to do it because it's so good.... doing it now do you?

I know I would never do something like that. For many of us, it's just uncomprehensible. Why would anyone let someone talk them into such a thing? Lloyd

I am afraid my friend , that there are a lot of things in this mad world that neither you nor me will never understand , I couldn't kill any living creature , Even If this person had done something really terrible , I just can't understand how they can kill especially strangers and children , they can never know who is going to be killed or maimed , this is just so sad an act,and at times so sad a world xx

It is so sad. Calling them an animal would be giving animals a bad name. I've never seen anything like this before. And it appears that they aren't having any problems recruiting more people to kill themselves. Lloyd

I believe they are unstable and when some one suggests that they are going to die doing a "noble" act they believe it.

It is truly appalling to me that there are people that are using innocent children, women and some men to commit horrific acts in the name of their religion. Nothing they are promised should be enough to strap on a bomb, kill themselves and as many civilians they can take out with the blast. You are right on when you say, if doing this has so many rewards, why don't the instructors do it. They are true cowards. Anyone that does evil things through other people is the lowest form of being on this earth. We have them here, in America. Charles Manson is one that immediately comes to my mind. Anyone with true faith in their God, Allah or whatever Higher Power they believe in, knows that is not the way to get their message across. All it does is destroy more lives and make more people learn how to hate.

I have to think about you saying that they are cowards. I think I'm the coward because I would never have the courage to do a thing like that. This is the first time I ever called myself a coward. lol Lloyd

I rarely hear about anyone that does this that isnt a younger man. Its easy to get caught up in any ideal at a younger age the older we get the wiser most of us get. Its not much different than that of the feudal era that japan was still in during WW2 and kamikaze. To understand how its possible for people to do this you have to look at their environment and culture. The sense of hopelessness and fear thats instilled in them to thinking this is the only way. Obviously the instructors will never do it they are nothing more than politicians looking for someone else to bleed for their cause. I have said it before if you could get all the religious leaders and politicians to fight the wars there wouldnt be any wars.

Killing yourself seems really stupid. You don't get any credit for what you do. You leave your family behind to miss you. You don't know how successful you were. Like killing innocent people, that surely doesn't rack up any karma points anywhere. I don't know of any religion that says dying or killing is the good thing. It is very hard to understand how they can think like that.

It is very hard to understand. Their way of thinking is totally opposite from what most of us believe. I don't understand it either. Lloyd

No, I wouldn't ever do it. There's nothing noble about killing people. My God, and every other one I know about, says you can't do it; that it's a sin.

This guys are really weird. Yeah you're right. If it is really noble, they should kill themselves. I think they just want to ruin everybody's lives. They just want to be the center of attention. They want to be the supreme of all.
